A recent report suggested that Redmi is already working on the successor to the Redmi A1 and A1+. The A series from Redmi is targeted at the entry-level market and it comes with decent specifications as well. It is expected that the Redmi A2 and A2+ are going to launch soon because Xiaomi has already begun mass production.
Tipster Mukul Sharma claimed that the production has started in Europe and some Asian countries. He also added that the phones will launch in a few months. Although there is no official confirmation from Xiaomi he tipped that the Redmi A2 and A2+ will make their way to the Indian market soon.
Additionally, Sharma added that the IMEI number for the Redmi A2+ is 23028RNCAG. There are no specifications yet but we will cover them as soon as we have an update. More leaks and rumors will surface quickly but the fact remains that both the Redmi A2+ and Redmi A2 are going to be entry-level phones.
Last year Redmi rebranded the Redmi A1+ as the Poco C50 and sold it in regions that didn’t get the Redmi A1+. Both phones came with 6.52 inch LCD display with a 720p resolution. They are both powered by the MediaTek Helio A22 with up to 3GB RAM and 32GB base storage.
The camera isn’t really significant as both phones come with an 8MP main camera and a 5MP selfie camera. In terms of battery, they both have a 5000mAh battery and 10Watts fast charging support. The battery is probably the best feature of the phone.
Redmi A2+ and Redmi A2 What we are looking out for
We are expecting the Redmi A2+ to come with at least a 90Hz refresh rate. There are some basic entry-level phones that have a high refresh rate and I expect Xiaomi to implement the same.
In terms of processors hopefully, we are going to see at least the MediaTek Helio G85 with 4GB RAM and 64GB base storage model. The camera also needs to be bumped to at least 13MP at the back and an 8MP selfie. Battery is already okay at 5000mAh but we want at least 18Watts fast charging.
