Xiaomi Redmi K20 and K20 Pro Specs and Price

Redmi, a sub brand of Xiaomi recently announced two new smartphones by the name Redmi K20 which means “Flagship Killer 2.0” and a Pro version with a more improved chipset and obviously a higher price tag. According to the latest news, both devices will be launched as Poco F2 and F2 Pro globally. The Redmi K20 is rocking the new Snapdragon 730 SoC from Qualcomm while the K20 Pro is rocking the flagship Snapdragon 855 SoC which is their only difference. They both have a 6.39-inch display, triple rear camera, in-display fingerprint sensor and a 4,000mAh battery with a 27W fast charging. Let’s find out more.

Redmi K20 and K20 Pro Design And Display

The Redmi K20 and K20 Pro both have a 6.39-inch Super AMOLED display with FHD+ 1080p resolution, 403 pixels per inch density and a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on top for screen protection. There is also no notch insight with a very minimal chin which makes both devices achieve an impressive screen-to-body ratio of 91%. For the beautiful true full-screen display, the front-facing camera had to be moved to a motorised compartment at the top of the device which comes up when needed and retracts when not in use.

Redmi K20 Pro

The fingerprint sensor on the Redmi K20 and K20 Pro have been placed Underneath the display which is an optical 7th Gen fingerprint sensor and is very fast. The back of the device which is made of glass has a triple camera setup with the camera at the top surrounded by a ring light. Colour options available for these two devices are Blue, Red and Black. They both measures 8.8mm in thickness and weigh 191grams. It features a dual SIM slot but no MicroSD card slot so no additional storage here.

Redmi K20 and K20 Pro Camera Review

The triple camera here consists of a main 48MP sensor (Sony IMX586 sensor for the K20 Pro and a Sony IMX582 sensor for the K20) placed in the middle which is accompanied by a secondary 13MP Ultra wide lens below it and then an 8MP telephoto lens at the top with the LED ring light around it. The 48MP sensor and 8MP both have laser/PDAF while the latter packs a 2x optical zoom. There is a dual-LED flash here for low light shots, HDR for good dynamic range and Panorama. It can shoot 2160p videos at 30/60fps, 1080p at 30/120/240fps and even up to 960fps.

For selfies, the motorised pop-up has to come up revealing the 20MP sensor with HDR and the ability to shoot 1080p videos at 30fps.

Hardware and Software

Redmi K20 uses a Snapdragon 730 SoC which is an Octa-core processor clocked at 2.2GHz Alongside an Adreno 618 GPU for graphics and gaming. Redmi K20 Pro, on the other hand, is fitted with the top of line Snapdragon 855 SoC which also has an octa-core processor but clocked at 2.84GHz and paired with an Adreno 640 GPU. Both devices will come in four configurations; 6GB of RAM with either 64GB or 128GB of internal storage and 8GB of RAM with either 128GB or 256GB of storage. Both devices don’t have a microSD card slot so no storage expansion here.

Of course, they both run the latest Android 9.0 Pie out of the box which has Xioami’s MIUI 10 Skin slapped on top.

Redmi K20 and K20 Pro Battery and Connectivity

Redmi K20 and K20 Pro both have a 4,000mAh battery inside keeping the lights on and can be charged through the USB Type-C port which can also be used to transfer files as well. As for charging, the Redmi K20 supports of 18W fast charging while the K20 Pro goes as far as 27W for charging its battery. Both have 4G LTE connectivity, Bluetooth, dual-band WiFi, WiFi hotspot, WiFi direct, GPS, NFC, FM radio and our beloved 3.5mm jack.

Redmi K20 has a starting price of $290 for the base model with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage and goes up north in the price for more RAM and storage. Redmi K20 Pro, on the other hand, starts at $361 for the 6GB/64GB configuration and goes as High has $435 for the spec’d out model with 8GB/256GB.
