The Alcatel 1s (Not to be mistaken with the Alcatel 1x) is a new budget smartphone offering from Alcatel which was just unveiled at the ongoing MWC in Barcelona. Alcatel 1s has a 5.5-inch 720p+ display and is powered by a Spreadtrum SC9863 SoC which paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. It also has a 3,060Ah battery, a fingerprint sensor at the back and even runs the latest Android Operating System – Android 9.0 Pie – out of the box. Let’s see what else the Alcatel 1s has to offer.

Alcatel 1s Design And Display

The design of the Alcatel 1s is pretty much what you’d expect from a budget device. The body is made of plastic with the dual camera setup, LED flash Located at the top left side of the device back and fingerprint sensor located at the centre. The 5.5-inch display at the front has a 720 x 1440 pixel screen resolution with a 293ppi and an aspect ratio of 18:9, leaving more than enough room at the top for the front-facing camera. It weighs just 146g and measures 8.6mm in thickness. It also comes in Blue, Black, Rose and Gold. It has a Hybrid Dual SIM slot which uses the second SIM slot also has a microSD card slot.

Alcatel 1s Camera Review

Alcatel 1s has a combination of a 13MP shooter with f/2.0 aperture and a secondary 2MP depth sensor camera at the back. It also features an LED flash for low light shots, HDR for good dynamic range and Panorama for wide angle shots. 1080p video recording is also possible but at 30fps. The front facing 5MP camera with f/2.2 aperture is equipped with HDR and can shoot 720p videos at 30fps.

Alcatel 1s Hardware and Software

On the inside of the Alcatel 1s is the Spreadtrum SC9863 SoC has an Octa-core core processor clocked at 1.6GHz. This is paired with 3GB of RAM for a smooth multitasking Experience. It has 32GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 128GB through the second SIM slot which doubles as a microSD card slot. It also runs Android 9.0 Pie out of the box, with Alcatel’s UI on top of course.

Battery & Network Connectivity

A 3,060mAh powers this device with no fast charging. It also has 4G LTE connectivity, Bluetooth, GPS, WiFi, WiFi direct, WiFi hotspot, FM radio, a 3.5mm jack and a microUSB port for battery charging and file transfer.

Alcatel 1s Price and Availability

Alcatel will have a starting price of €109/$124 for the 3GB/32GB configuration which is the only configuration available. The expected release date is sometime in Q1 which basically just March at this point.
