Apple Unveils Apple Watch Series 5

Apple announced the latest instalment to their popular series watch today during an event. The new Apple Watch Series 5 retains the desirable specs of its predecessor packed with innovative and interesting new features.

The smartwatch features Always-on LTPO Retina display. The company put together several advanced technologies to bring this innovation to life such as LTPO [low-temperature polysilicon and oxide display], efficient power management integrated circuit, ultra-low power display driver, and new ambient light sensor.

Apple claims the watch offers “all-day” battery life which they say is “18 hours”. Guess, if you opt-out of the Always-on display mode, the battery life can hit the 24 hours mark.

The Apple Watch Series 5 features a dedicated compass for navigation. It can now provide longitude, latitude, incline, heading and current elevation.

Three new compass complications can be added to the Watch face to provide instant direction. With this new in-built compass and nee Watch map, users can see which way they are facing.

The smartwatch can make international emergency calls either manually or automatically. Once the fall detection mode is enabled, it automatically places an emergency call once it notices the user has taken a hard fall and remain stagnant or motionless for about a minute.

The watchOS 6 comes with additional health and fitness features. There is a Cycle Tracking app which predicts a user upcoming period and fertile window based on information provided.

The Apple Watch Studio is another great new feature. This studio is a place where customers get to pick their preferred combination of case and band for that unique look. The studio is only available on Apple stores.

The GPS model of the smartwatch starts at $399/N while the GPS+Cellular model starts at $499/N. You can also check nomos Watches out if the Apple Watch price is beyond your budget.

Pre-order has started and will be in stores from September 20. The GPS model will be available in the US and 38 other regions/countries. While the GPS+Cellular model will be available in the US and 20 other regions/countries. For now, the countries or regions haven’t been specified yet.
