Asus ROG Phone has been launched by tech giant ASUS as its first gaming smartphone. ASUS is famous for its rugged and powerful gaming laptops, it was only a matter of time before the company will make one for the Android community.
The Asus ROG Phone is here, it promises Android lovers an opportunity to take their gaming skills to another level. It has a GameCool feature which transfers the heat away from the Snapdragon 845. DESIGN
The ROG Phone looks completely different from what we’ve seen on typically gaming smartphones. It sports cooling vents, which the GameCool feature brings out all the hotness going inside. The ASUS ROG logo at the back displays any colour in different patterns and can be used as a notification light as well.
The Phone is fully water resistant, coming with a 3.5mm jack and a USB type C port, there’s another port by the side for charging while gaming. The dual shooters are horizontal at the top left corner. It’s quite slim for a gaming smartphone, measuring 8.6 mm in thickness, nonetheless, it weighs 200g.
DISPLAY
What’s a gaming smartphone without the trendy 18:9 aspect ratio screen for the full view experience. Both the front and back are covered with the Corning Gorilla Glass 5, so you know you’re in safe hands. The screen has 108.6% DCI-P3 colour gamut and HDR support for a smooth gaming experience.
The 6-inch FHD+ AMOLED capacitive touchscreen is more than perfect to bring all your games to life. With a resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels and 402 pixels per inch density, the screen is ready for your adventures. It also supports up to 10 fingers with a Wide Colour Gamut, HDR display and refreshes up to 90Hz 1ms pixel response time.
HARDWARE and SOFTWARE
Under the hood, Snapdragon 845 from Qualcomm is in charge with 8-Core processor and 64-bit CPU architecture. It’s worthy to note that the octa-core processor here reaches the fastest clock rate of 2.96GHz with 10nm process technology. The Adreno 630 graphics processor handles everything graphics.
Multitask through all your heavy games with the 8GB RAM space available. While for storage, there are two versions, one with 128GB and an expensive variant with 512GB. You have to choose carefully because you can’t upgrade further. It runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with ROG Gaming UI.
CAMERA
At the back, there’s a dual 12MP + 8MP rear shooters with phase detection autofocus, LED flash and other features like touch focus, face detection, panorama and HDR. You can also shoot 4K videos of 2160p@30fps. For selfies, the 8MP selfie shooter will come in handy.
