Asus Zenfone 5 Full Specs and Price Review

Asus Zenfone 5 was launched at the 2018 Mobile World Congress as Asus official flagship smartphone. The phone sports a bezel-less display with the trending top-notch which flooded the MWC.

According to Marcel Campos, Asus’ global head of marketing, he said the top-notch wasn’t really about copying from Apple, but about what people really want. The device is an absolute beast with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. Want to know more? Stay with me.

DESIGN

Made from Aluminium Alloy and shines exquisitely when in contact with light. The company really did their best with the design, to be honest. It sports a rear fingerprint scanner as well for easy access, while the Asus logo is under it.

Asus Zenfone 5

A beauty with the trending dual vertical cameras at the top left corner, but the dual-LED flash is now under the dual shooters instead of being in between. It measures 7.7mm slim in thickness, which is really impressive and weighs just 159g. It should be very light to operate and available in Blue and Silver colours as well.

DISPLAY

The bezel-less display with top-notch was quite a trend at the MWC and Asus followed suit. The Zenfone 5 comes with the feature which brings out the best of the display. The screen boasts of an amazing 81.3% screen to body ratio.

Focusing on the screen, the 6.2-inch FHD+ IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen is pretty impressive. The screen has 1080 x 2246 pixels in resolution and 402 pixels per inch density for clear and immersive visuals. For protection, a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 is ready to do its job nicely well.

HARDWARE and SOFTWARE

Working underneath is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset with Octa-core processor clocking at 1.8 GHz and a 64-bit CPU architecture. It has a 14nm process technology, while the Qualcomm Adreno 509 graphics does its job with graphics.

There are two versions in terms of RAM and internal storage, there’s one with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage and another with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. The RAM space reaches a memory speed of 1866MHz while the storage space is upgradeable up to 2TB. The Zenfone 5 runs on Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box with Zen UI 5.0user interface.

CAMERA

At the back, there’s a dual rear 12MP + 8MP camera with f/1.8 aperture and f/2.0 aperture respectively. The camera comes with a dual-LED flash and captures 4K resolution images with ease. At the front, there’s a 20.2MP selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture, 83° wide angle lens and face recognition technology for cute selfies.

BATTERY

The Asus Zenfone 5 is powered by a Non-Removable Li-Po 3300mAh battery with fast charging technology.

PRICE AND AVAILABILITY

Asus Zenfone 5 will be available for about $649 from March, that’s about (N230,000 – N270,000)
