BlackBerry Key2 has finally been launched by TCL and brings all the remaining details we didn’t know about the device yet. Details of the Key2 leaked heavily these past couples of weeks and it seems there was some truth about the rumours.
BlackBerry’s iconic physical keyboard is here to stay guys, the Key2 brought on the primitive feature with a small screen as well. There’s a fingerprint scanner on the space key and 6GB/128GB storage variant. Let’s find out more

DESIGN
The Key2 comes with a plastic back and an aluminium frame. It should give you that BlackBerry feels, just like its extinct Curve and Bold series. The aluminium frame also adds to the beauty of the device, it comes from the 7000 series.
The trending dual rear camera has found its way to the Key series from BlackBerry. It’s situated in a horizontal position at the top left corner with the dual LED flash beside it. It measures 8.5mm in thickness and weighs 168g overall. It’ll be available in Black and Silver colours.
DISPLAY
Turning over to the front, the screen is very small with the QWERTY keyboard height increased by 20%. The Capacitive touch 4-row keyboard has a matte finish and brings advanced features like Flick Typing and Speed Key, while the space key doubles as the fingerprint scanner.
Focusing on the small 4.5-inch FHD+ IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen on top. It boasts of 1080 x 1620 pixels in resolution and 434 pixels per inch density for crystal clear visuals. It stretches up to 55.2% screen-to-body ratio, with the Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on top.
HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE
Under the hood, you get a Snapdragon 660 Processor that has a clocking speed of 2.2GHz and manufactured on the 14nm process technology. Handling everything graphics is the Adreno 512 graphics processor.
A bigger 6GB RAM space on the Key2 allows for smooth multitasking of heavy apps. In the storage department, there are two variants, the standard version comes with 128GB and a cheaper variant packs 64GB. Both variants are upgradeable up to 256GB with a memory card. It runs on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box as well.
CAMERA
The dual 12MP + 12MP rear shooters boast of f/1.8 and f/2.6 aperture respectively. The first 12MP to the left has 1/2.3″ Sensor size, 1.55µm pixel size and DP PDAF. While the 12MP telephoto has 1.0µm pixel size and PDAF for optical zooming and portrait shots. Features on the camera include phase detection autofocus, dual-LED dual-tone flash, touch focus, face detection, HDR and panorama. Videos of 2160p and 1080p can be shot @30fps. While the 8MP selfie shooter has f/2.0 aperture and 1.12µm pixel size.
BATTERY
The BlackBerry Key2 is powered by a non-removable Li-Ion 3500mAh battery with fast charging technology.
PRICE AND AVAILABILITY
BlackBerry Key2 is available on shopping stores, starting from $649 to $699, that’s about (N230,000 – N250,000).
