Get to know about how to use eSIM on the 9mobile network today. eSIM stands for embedded SIM i.e. there is no physical SIM card involved or SIM slot. This eSIM is something that has been gaining traction in the smartphone market for a while now and recently in Nigeria.
On July 15, 2020, MTN Nigeria became the first telecommunication company in the country to launch the embedded SIM (eSIM). This category of SIM cards is generally built into smartphones, wearables, and devices. It allows customers to connect multiple numbers to their device and also supports multiple profiles. The 9mobile network is the newest telecom company in Nigeria to join this eSIM initiative.
How to Use eSIM on the 9mobile Network
Since eSIM is built on smartphones, ensuring you get a phone that has it is the first step or rather first thing to do. If you’re unsure if your smartphone has this feature, look up its specs or ask a phone literate near you. After this, walk into a 9mobile Experience Centre nearest to you and request an eSIM activation. This involves the scanning of a QR code, downloading an eSIM profile and finally the traditional or usual SIM registration.

9mobile is giving up to 7GB data for free to customers that activate the company’s eSIM service. The validity of this free data was not specified but we can assume it won’t last more than 30 days. The 9mobile Experience Centre also allows for a SIM swapping for those who want to change to an eSIM.
