Google Daydream View (2017) Review
The 2017 Daydream View is a headset for advanced virtual reality experience. Google unveiled the headset with the new Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL smartphones, it comes in more colours with a few design improvements. According to Google, the headset will take you to ‘new worlds’ and you can take your loved ones with you.
The Design
The VR headset is very comfortable, Google used breathable fabric for most of the exterior. Maybe they are targeting a lighter and cheaper alternative to other rival headsets like the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. Users would find this a lot more comfortable than the others.
The top strap is easily removable, and you can even fit the Google Daydream View (2017) over your eyeglasses. It is now available in black, grey and reddish pink.
The Display
The Google Daydream View (2017) headset seems like an inspiration behind the initial design of the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL phones. The magnifying lenses will stretch the display of your phone across your field of vision. There’s a secure space that exists between the front flap and the lenses to hold your phone. While the smaller display on the Pixel might seem a little bit poor, its bigger brother with Quad HD display offers better clarity.
Other Features
The Google Daydream View (2017) has sensors that will make your experience of using certain apps and games more intensive. And you can still use the small controller for taking actions in the virtual world. Supporting motion detection for an amazing gaming experience.
There is also a space on the back of the strap for storing the tiny remote, so it won’t get lost. Although Google’s focus was the Pixel smartphones, the Google Daydream View (2017) can also be used with other selected devices, like the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.
Buyers in some countries will get the device with a number of popular games for free. Google also plans to offer a number of VR video series through YouTube for users. You can live stream your experience for your friends and family to enjoy on TV with Chromecast.
