Tech giant, Google has officially launched its own gaming subscription service named “Play Pass”.
This comes a few days after Apple another tech giant company, launched its own gaming subscription platform – Arcade. Though both companies have a different market approach.
The Google Play Pass is not just limited to games, regular apps are also featured. During the launch, over 350 apps and games were presented. These apps and games are readily available in Google Playstore and according to Google, it will continue in that direction.
The major difference is the apps/games you get from Playstore will feature in-app purchases, ads and upfront payments. While on the Play Pass, it is completely unlocked but for a price.
The Google Play Pass will cost $4.99/month just as Apple’s Arcade. It will be available to only Android devices, which shouldn’t surprise many. For now, the service is in the United States alone, while other countries should get it soon.
If you’re reluctant about this service, you can start with a 10-day free trial. There is also a promo which ends on October 10 at 11:59 pm PT that allows you to get the Play Pass for just $1.99/month for your first year.
Like most online subscription service, Google Play Pass can be shared amongst a family of five. Each member of the family can access Play Pass individually at their own convenience.
