Features of Find My Device

We will be using the “Find My Device” feature that comes with Android device manager which can do a lot of things including locating your device. It can do the following:

  • Ring: This will cause your Google pixel to ring continuously till you stop it or find the smartphone and stop it. This is good for those times you misplace your phone while in silent or vibrate mode. It will override that and right at it’s loudest volume for you to hear and locate.
  • Locate: Locate shows the location of your Google pixel through Google maps. This is perhaps one of the best features of the Android device manager but it has some limitations. First, the smartphone in question has to be connected to the internet and also has its location services (GPS) turned on. Once these two requirements have been met, you’ll be able to see exactly where your phone is.
  • Lock: Lock comes in handy when you feel someone might have taken your Google pixel smartphone. Using this feature will lock your smartphone and will also put up any custom message you want like saying “Hello my name is Dan and my number is …” So the person who finds your smartphone knows who to call in order to return it.
  • Erase: Erase is more like a last resort when you know for certain that you aren’t getting your phone back. This feature erases everything on your smartphone in order to prevent someone from getting their hands on your files that are on your smartphone. Like I said, last resort.
