This is HTC definition of a bezel-less smartphone, the HTC U11 Plus. The device is not only classy on the outside, it is powerful on the inside too. It is a follow-up release to the U11 base version. The IP68 certified smartphone is water and dust resistance for up to 30mins in fresh water. HTC opted for a single rear camera for the flagship device, despite most flagships released in 2017 sporting dual rear cameras.

HTC U11 Plus DESIGN

The HTC U11 Plus is a beauty to behold, its designed by an aluminium frame having both front and back glass. It has no physical home button, as the fingerprint sensor is situated at the back. The U11 Plus is available in three colours; Ceramic Black, Amazing Silver and Translucent Black. It measures 158.5×74.9×8.5mm in dimension and weighs just 188g.

HTC U11 Plus DISPLAY

The HTC U11 Plus has a bezel-less screen (78% screen-to-body ratio) just like the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus. The smartphone sports a 6-inch Super LCD6 capacitive touchscreen with a screen resolution of 1440 x 2880 pixels. The 538 pixel per inch density of the device, will provide an impressive screen display and an amazing viewing experience. The U11 Plus is protected by the latest Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE

When it comes to Hardware, HTC has always brought their “A Game”, and they didn’t disappoint in this device. It packs the new Qualcomm MSM8998 Snapdragon 835 chipset running at a speed of 2.45GHz Octa-core Kryo. The Graphics Processing Unit on the U11 Plus is the Adreno 540.

In terms of RAM, it comes in two versions, the 4GB RAM/64GB Storage model and the 6GB RAM/128GB Storage model. Although both models are upgradeable to 256GB with microSD. HTC U11 Plus runs on 8.0 Android Oreo with HTC Sense UI.

The U11 Plus houses a 12MP single camera at the back, with phase detection autofocus, OIS, dual-LED flash. I was really expecting dual rear cameras on the U11 Plus, I guess HTC isn’t ready for that feature yet. The selfie camera is an 8MP shooter, for video calls and taking the best single or group selfies.

The HTC U11 Plus is powered by a 39300mAh Non-removable battery. It is equipped with support for Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0.

PRICE AND AVAILABILITY

The HTC U11 Plus is available for pre-order, starting from $849, that’s about N310,000 – N330,000.
