Huawei’s sub-brand; Honor just released a new smartphone – Huawei Honor Magic 2 3D – which isn’t actually a new smartphone per se but just the Honor Magic 2 with a change in front facing camera department and a better overall cooling solution using graphene-based heat pipe to dissipate the heat efficiently, thereby keeping the device at peak performance for longer then the Honor Magic 2. Huawei Honor Magic 2 3D Design And Display
Huawei Honor Magic 2 3D incorporates the same design with a slider just like the Honor Magic 2. The 6.39-inch 1080p+ display with a 403ppi and a 19:9 aspect ratio covers the whole display front if this device, leaving basically no bezel at the top nor bottom, pushing the camera – a Triple camera setup – to the slider compartment.
There is also a fingerprint sensor underneath the display. The back of the device also has a triple camera setup with an LED flash. Overall, the device weighs 206 grams, thanks to the slider and measures 8.3mm thickness. Colour options available are all Gradient-based which includes Gradient Black, Gradient Red and Gradient Blue. It also has a dual SIM card slot with no slot for storage expansion.
Huawei Honor Magic 2 3D Camera Review
Honor Magic 2 3D has a total of Six cameras which are evenly distributed. The three at the back comprises of a main 16MP shooter with an f/1.8 aperture and PDAF, a secondary 16MP shooter with an f/2.2 aperture and lastly, a 24MP black and white camera with an f/1.8 aperture. Features of the rear camera include an LED flash, Panorama and HDR. It can also record 4k and 1080p videos at 30fps and 720p at slow-motion (480fps).
As for selfies, there is a main 16MP shooter with an f/2.0 aperture which is accompanied by a secondary 3D TOF camera and a 2MP depth sensor camera. All of which are hidden in the sliding mechanism that comes up when needed and backs down/out of sight when not in use. It also has HDR and can shoot 1080p videos at 30fps.
Huawei Honor Magic 2 3D Hardware and Software
HiSilicon Kirin 980 SoC drives this device is chipset based on the 7nm FinFET process technology with an octa-core processor clocked at 2.6GHz paired with a Mali-G76 MP10 GPU. It has either 6GB or 8GB of RAM depending on the configuration. The 6GB RAM configuration has 128GB of storage while the 8GB RAM configuration has three storage options; 128GB, 256GB and 512GB, all of which don’t have a microSD card slot for storage expansion. It runs Android 9.0 Pie which is the latest Android version with either EMUI 9 or Magic UI 2 on top.
Battery & Network Connectivity
The 3,500mAh battery here is equipped with a 40W fast battery charging through it’s USB Type-C port. It can get you a 50% battery in just 15mins, 85% in 30mins and a full charge in less than an hour. Other features of this device include 4G LTE connectivity, dual-band WiFi, WiFi hotspot, WiFi direct, Bluetooth, dual-band GPS and NFC. There is no 3.5mm jack or FM radio here so you’ll need a dongle for the former.

The device is currently on sale but is exclusive to the China market with a CNY 5,799 price which is approximately $850 for the biggest configuration of 8GB/512GB.
