Huawei Honor V20 Announced With 48MP Camera, Full Specs and Price

Honor, a sub-brand of Huawei has just managed to sneak in another smartphone – The Huawei Honor View 20 – in 2018. The new smartphone was announced at an even held in China and although the global launch for the newly announced Honor V20 is set for February 22, 2019 at an event in paris, the specifications of the device have been confirmed. It comes with a screen hole which is going to be a trend in 2019 and also a 48MP camera at the back.

Huawei Honor V20 Design And Display

The Honor V20 toes the path of Samsung Galaxy A8s and Huawei Nova 4 with In-display/punch-hole camera located at the top left corner of the massive 6.4-inch 1080p display. There is also a chin down below but it is barely noticeable.

At the back of the device is a fingerprint sensor at the usual spot in the centre while the dual cameras sit comfortably at the top left side. The camera is accompanied by an LED flash. The device weighs 180 grams and measures 8.1mm in thickness thanks to massive battery on the Inside. Colour options available for this device are Sea Blue, Red and Magic Night Black.

Huawei Honor V20 packs an impressive screen hole camera for selfies. The camera is a 25MP camera with f/2.0 aperture and HDR with 1080p video recording capability at 30 fps. At the back is also a very impressive 48MP camera equipped with PDAF accompanied by a TOF 3D camera. The rear camera is equipped with features like an LED flash, HDR and Panorama. It can also record 4k and 1080p videos at 30fps. Thanks to the Kirin 980 chipset on the inside, the secondary 3D TOF has been paired with the chipset to enable body shaping which will make your full height body shots come out better.

Honor V20 Hardware and Software

As expected, Honor V20 utilizes their in-house Kirin 980 SoC which is an octa-core processor clocked at 2.6GHz paired with a Mali-G76 MP10 GPU. There are two RAM and storage options which comes in two configurations; A 6GB or 8GB RAM Variant with 128GB of internal storage and an 8GB RAM Variant which comes with 256GB of internal storage. There is no MicroSD card slot so storage isn’t expandable on either Variant.

About slots, there is also a dual Nano SIM slot for SIM cards. Huawei’s EMUI also runs on the device out of the box which is based on Android 9.0 Pie and as such brings along both Android Pie and EMUI goodies like GPU Turbo 2.0, Desktop Mode etc.

Battery & Network Connectivity

Keeping the lights on is a 4,000mAh battery that comes with a 22.5W (4.5V/5A) fast charging capable of getting the battery to 50% in less than 30 minutes. The device also sports a dual-frequency GPS positioning (Dual band GPS), GLONASS and BDS. It also has a triple Wi-Fi antenna, WiFi hotspot, WiFi direct, NFC, 4G LTE Connectivity and Bluetooth 5.0 with A2DP, aptX HD and LE. A Type-C port is also on board for charging and file transfer with support for USB On The Go.

Price and Availability

The base version of 6GB/128GB has a price tag of $435 while the 8GB/128GB costs $510. The biggest version with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage which doesn’t come with black panel like the others cost $580.
