The focus of Huawei fan these past few weeks have been on the P30 and P30 Pro smartphone, however, there is a third member of the family, one aimed at people not able to afford the two bigger brothers with a few cuts here and here.
First was the Kirin 710 instead of the Kirin 980 on the other two. It has the same display as the P30, a triple camera setup albeit different configurations and a smaller battery among other things. Let’s see what the Huawei P30 Lite brings to the table.

Huawei P30 lite Design And Display
Huawei P30 lite is sporting a 6.15-inch 1080p IPS LCD display with a 19:9 aspect ratio and a waterdrop notch housing the front-facing camera. The back of the device looks like glass but is actually Plastic. It has a triple camera setup on it with an LED flash and a fingerprint sensor for biometric verifications. The front-facing camera can also be used for FaceID.
Overall, the device weighs 159grams, measures 7.4mm In thickness and has three colour options; Peacock Blue, Midnight Black and Pearl White. It also has a single SIM model (with no MicroSD card slot) and a dual Hybrid SIM model which also accommodates a microSD card for storage expansion through the second SIM slot.
Huawei P30 lite Camera Review
Just like P30, the Huawei P30 Lite is also packing a triple rear camera setup, however, the ones here are of different configurations. We have a 24MP wide-angle camera with f/1.8 aperture and PDAF, a secondary 8MP ultrawide camera and lastly a 2MP depth sensor camera with f/2.4 aperture.
The Triple camera setup is equipped with am LED flash, HDR, Panorama and can also shoot 1080p videos at 30fps. The single front-facing 32MP shooter placed in the notch with an f/2.0 and HDR can also shoot 1080p videos at 30fps.
Hardware and Software
At the heart of the Huawei P30 Lite is no other than Huawei’s Kirin 710 SoC with octa-core processor clocking speeds of up 2.2GHz alongside a Mali-G51 MP4 GPU for gaming. No word yet on if it will feature Huawei’s Game Turbo boost or not.
As for RAM and storage options, this device only comes in one configuration which has 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage which can be expanded further through the second SIM card slot that doubles as a microSD card slot, up to 512GB. It runs Android 9.0 Pie out of the box with Huawei’s EMUI skin covering it.
Battery & Network Connectivity
A 3,340mAh keeps the lights turned on here with support for up to 18W fast charging which should get you a 60% charge in less than an hour. It also has 4G LTE, WiFi, WiFi hotspot, WiFi Direct, Bluetooth, GPS, a 3.5mm jack, USB Type-C port and depending on the market, NFC.
Huawei P30 lite Price and Availability
Huawei P30 has been announced by Huawei but some online retailers have put up the device for pre-order running from now till about April 4 with a starting price of €290 which approximately $326 or N100,000 for the 6GB/128GB configuration which is the only configuration available.
In Nigeria, you can buy this device for N99,000 only. Different online shopping malls are also adding some gifts when you pre-order so now’s the best time to get one.
