The Huawei Kirin 1020 will debut soon enough and before the year ends. This is coming after Qualcomm announced its first 5G-enabled smartphone chip will arrive later this year as well. The Chinese tech giant has been trying everything they can to dominate the chipset market, but it seems Qualcomm had been up to the tasks.
However, Huawei is ready to show the world again how they make the best chips. If you can recall, the Kirin 970 was the world’s first AI chip, before Qualcomm even thought about the idea. Even though the Snapdragon 845 brought the feature and a performance that beats the Kirin 970 in all battles. So, Huawei has a lot to do if they really want to beat Qualcomm in the chipset game.
Earlier on, we heard about the HiSilicon Kirin 980 chip which is already being manufactured by Huawei and it’s expected to beat the Snapdragon 845. However, it seems Huawei isn’t taking any chances as the Kirin 1020 is also in the works promising unbeatable performance, the chip is expected to reach 400,000 points on AnTuTu. That will be more than 200% increase in performance compared to the Kirin 970.
The Kirin 1020 will also come with support for 5G network and will surely debut when the 5G era fully begins. Although, no words yet if the chipset will appear on other non-Huawei devices. But we will definitely see it on various Huawei and Honor handsets.
