Huawei Y7p Design And Display

The front of the device is basically covered with the big 6.39-inch IPS LCD display which has an HD+ resolution and a 269ppi. At the top left side of this device’s display is the punch hole housing the front-facing camera leaving the almost non-existing top bezel with the speaker grill and sensor.

The bezel at the bottom is significantly thicker compared to the one at the top, both of which are in colour back; regardless of the colour of the whole phone. Speaking about colours, this device only comes in two which you can choose from; Aurora Blue and Midnight Black.

Huawei Y7p, as a midrange, has a plastic back as well as a plastic frame to keep the cost on the low side. It also weighs 176grams and measures 8.1 in thickness, and that is with the 4,000mAh battery on the inside.

Huawei Y7p Camera Review

Huawei Y7p has a total of four cameras, 3 at the rear and one at the front of the display. The one in the punch hole is a single 8MP sensor with an f/2.2 aperture equipped with HDR and capable of shooting 1080p videos at 30fps.

Turning over to the back reveals the triple rear camera consisting of a 48MP main sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and PDAF, an 8MP ultrawide sensor with an f/2.4 aperture and lastly, a 2MP depth sensor for portrait shots, also with an f/2.4 aperture.

Similar to the front-facing camera, the rear-facing camera is also equipped with HDR and can shoot 1080p videos at 30fps.

Huawei Y7p Hardware and Software

At the heart of this device is an in-house Hisilicon Kirin 710 SoC which is a Chipset with an octa-core processor clocking speeds of up 2.2GHz paired with a Mali-G51 MP4 for graphics/games. This is hooked up to 4GB of RAM and has 64GB of internal storage. Unfortunately, this is the only configuration in which this device comes in, at least for now.

Thankfully, you can expand the storage through the SIM cards slots which also double as an SD card slot and can accommodate up to twice the size of the internal storage; 128GB.

As for the software, it is rocking Huawei’s own EMUI 9.1 which is based on Android 9.0 Pie. No word from Huawei yet on if it will get Android 10 sometime in the future.

Battery and Connectivity

A 4,000mAh battery sits comfortably on the inside of this device and stores power. The battery can also be charged fast, thanks to the 10W fast battery charging it comes with. Unfortunately, you’ll have to charge through the dated MicroUSB port it comes with.

4G LTE connectivity is present on this device with a lot of bands. There is also Bluetooth, WiFi, WiFi hotspot, WiFi direct, GPS, FM radio, the almost extinct 3.5mm jack and a fingerprint sensor at the back for biometric unlock.

Huawei Y7p Price and Availability

Huawei Y7p goes for about N55,000 in Nigeria ( $153 )and only comes in a 4GB/64GB configuration option.
