Infinix Note 6 Vs TECNO Phantom 9 Specs Comparison: Which One to Buy?

In this article, we will be putting the Infinix Note 6 smartphone, the latest flagship offering from Infinix, against another flagship from Tecno; Tecno Phantom 9. Both devices have a lot in common with both having the same Mediatek Helio P35 SoC on the inside which runs Android 9.0 Pie with their respective custom UI on top.

Let’s see what else these two devices have in common and what else set them apart. Most importantly, let’s see which one comes out on top.

The Infinix Note 6 is rocking a smaller 6.01-inch AMOLED display compared to the 6.4-inch display on the Tecno Phantom 9 which is also an AMOLED panel. Both devices have a 1080p resolution (1080 x 2160 on the Infinix Note 6 and 1080 x 2340 on the Tecno Phantom 9).

Infinix Note 6 uses the old 18:9 aspect ratio leaving enough room at the top that houses the front-facing camera and other sensors while the Tecno Phantom 9 incorporates the newer 19:9 aspect ratio for its display, with a punch hole notch which houses the front-facing camera as well.

The back of both devices are packed with cameras, three to be exact, accompanied by an LED flash. Infinix Note 6 has a fingerprint sensor mounted at the back while the Tecno Phantom 9 uses an in-display fingerprint sensor hidden underneath the display.

Despite having the bigger battery between the two, the Infinix Note 6 weighs less at 173g and measures 7.7mm in thickness while the Tecno Phantom 9 weighs 180g and measures 7.85mm in thickness. As expected, both devices feature a dual SIM card slot and a dedicated slot for a microSD card.

Both devices use the same Mediatek Helio P35 SoC on the inside which is a chipset based on the 12nm process technology with an octa-core processor clocked at a speed of up 2.35GHz alongside a PowerVR GE8320 GPU for gaming. This is paired with 4GB of RAM on the infinix Note 6 and 6GB of RAM on the Tecno Phantom 9. Infinix Note 6 has 64GB of internal storage while Tecno Phantom 9 has double that at 128GB, both with a dedicated microSD card for additional storage.

They both run the latest android operating system; Android 9.0 Pie, each laced with their respective UI. XOS on the Infinix Note 6 and HiOS on the Tecno Phantom 9.

Camera, Battery & Connectivity

Both devices here have the same triple camera setup. On the Infinix Note 6, we have a main 16MP shooter, a secondary 8MP ultra-wide camera and a 2MP depth sensor camera. Features of the rear camera include an LED flash, panorama, HDR and the ability to shoot 1080p videos at 30fps. The single 16MP front-facing camera with its own LED flash can also shoot 1080p videos at 30fps as well

Tecno Phantom 9 also has a similar setup with a main 16MP camera, a secondary 8MP wide-angle camera and a 2MP depth sensor camera. The rear camera features a Quad-LED flash for low light photos and can shoot 1080p videos at 30fps. At the front, there is a single 32MP shooter which also has a dual-LED flash and can shoot 1080p videos at 30fps.

When it comes to battery capacity, Note 6 is on top. Powering the Infinix Note 6 smartphone is a massive 4,000mAh battery compared to the 3,500mAh battery that powers the Tecno Phantom 9. No word on fast charging support on both devices. They both have WiFi, WiFi Direct, WiFi hotspot, Bluetooth, 4G LTE connectivity and a microUSB port through which charging and file transfer are done.

Infinix Note 6 Vs TECNO Phantom 9 – Price

The Infinix Note 6 is priced at N65,000 Naira in Nigeria while the Phantom 9 costs N77,000 Naira. From Specs and features point of view, both devices are priced competitively. But for me, I think Phantom 9 is a better device here. It has better RAM, storage capacity and overall better design.

But if the type that cares more about Note and its X-pen functionalities, the Note 6 won’t disappoint you either.
