Instagram takes down its standalone Boomerang and Hyperlapse apps

Two of Instagram’s standalone apps have been removed from app stores. Instagram’s Boomerang and Hyperlapse stopped existing on March 1, 2022, according to information provided by TechCrunch.

Instagram announced plans to shut down its IGTV app a week ago, as part of a strategy to put emphasis on features like Reels, Stories, and Video Posts. However, no official statement was released this time, and both applications were quietly removed from app stores.

Instagram’s Boomerang app debuted in 2014, allowing users to make mini videos out of a burst of ten photos and share them with friends on other platforms. Hyperlapse, on the other hand, was a tool for creating timelapse videos that was launched in 2015.

Instagram now only has IGTV and Layout on its App Store. While IGTV will be deleted from the App Store later this month, the Layout app will continue to exist for the time being, according to the company.
