Apparently, fans are not giving up on the Samsung Galaxy Oxygen. The qwerty keyboard-based Android smartphone still happens to be a mystery and not much has been said about it by the company themselves. Before answering the question “Is Samsung Galaxy Oxygen still a reality?”, let’s first walk you through the specs, features and rumoured price of the device.
Samsung Galaxy Oxygen Design
The Galaxy Oxygen has one of the most intriguing and beautiful design you’ll ever see in a smartphone. It’s evident that the company is trying to revitalise the flip phone era. On this smartphone, the qwerty keyboard is hiding under the display.
You can see it (qwerty keyboard), by flipping/opening the display. You must be wondering what happens to the display, once you flip or open it. The display mechanism allows it to swipe to the other side once opened.
Specifications and Features
This smartphone features a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display with 1080 x 1920 pixels resolution. The display is curved in shape and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass.
Inside the Oxygen device is a Snapdragon 845 SoC laced with 6GB RAM. It’s hard to imagine this chipset will be present if and when this device does come out. Right now, it is outdated as we already have the Snapdragon 855 & 855 SoC. There are two storage options to choose on here, 128GB and 256GB. Additional storage is possible thanks to the microSD slot.
The Samsung Galaxy Oxygen will be powered by a 5,000 mAh battery, which will be removable. Not sure how true that will be when the time comes. It is expected that the device will support an unspecified version of fast charging.
Camera
At the back of the Galaxy Oxygen is a triple camera module. This camera consists of a 20MP main sensor, 13MP secondary sensor and a 5MP third sensor. The camera features portrait mode and dual-LED flash which is ideal when taking pictures in a low-light environment. At the front, we have a 16MP camera for selfies.
Price and Availability
There is no official word or even teaser from Samsung for the Galaxy Oxygen. Though, the expected price of the device is $1000. But given how much technology has advanced over the last couple of months, there is a strong indication that the device will be updated with new features which will lead to an increment in price. The Galaxy Oxygen is expected in the fourth quarter of 2019.
Is Samsung Galaxy Oxygen Still a reality?
Now to answer the real question of this article, the answer is No. The Samsung Galaxy Oxygen is still has remained elusive since its first concept design was release and Samsung has not made any announcement yet if the device truly exists.
Samsung has released their flagships of 2019 (Galaxy S10 series & Note 10 series), so they basically don’t have a tough schedule in terms of smartphone for the rest of the year. This doesn’t mean the Galaxy Oxygen will be released before the end of 2019. We think the next couple of months will say a lot whether or not we’ll see this device come to life.
