Vivo has officially dropped the NEX 3 5G smartphone at a launch event in Shanghai, China.
Ladies and gentlemen, brace up for the waterfall display season are finally upon us. The Vivo NEX 3 5G comes with a waterfall display, which Vivo calls “Waterfall FullView Display”.
This display is also expected to be featured in the upcoming Huawei Mate 30 phone. The display of the NEX 3 features a 6.89-inch P-OLED touchscreen with 99.6% screen-to-body ratio. According to Vivo, they are able to achieve such high screen-to-body ratio due to the edges of the screen being extremely curved at nearly 90 degrees.
The Vivo NEX 3 5G becomes the first flagship smartphone to feature 64MP Samsung ISOCELL Bright GW1 sensor. The Redmi Note 8 was the first to use the sensor.
It is aligned with two 13MP wide-angle and telephoto sensors at the back. The 16MP selfie camera uses a similar pop-up mechanism seen on the Vivo X27 Pro.
Inside the NEX 3 5G is Snapdragon 855+ SoC laced with either 8GB or 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. The battery capacity is 4,500 mAh and supports 44W fast charging, which was first seen on the Vivo iQOO Pro.
The device will be available in the Asia Pacific and Southeast China this month before spreading to other markets. Pre-order begins today, September 16 and shipment is expected to start September 21. The phone will come in two connectivity capabilities – 4G and 5G.
The 4G version with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage will cost CNY4,998/$707/€641. While the 5G version with 8GB RAM and bigger storage of 256GB goes for CNY5,698/$810/€730. If you have a deep pocket, the biggest available version offers 5G modem with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage and costs CNY6,198/$877/€800.
