The LG G7 ThinQ was unveiled as the company’s flagship smartphone for the year 2018. The device boasts of AI-powered dual rear cameras and the trending notched screen with a Google assistant button.

DESIGN
The G7 ThinQ sports an aluminium alloy overall unibody that’s really attractive to be honest. There’s a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 at the back which is shatter-proof to a point. Nonetheless, it’s still glass and might have cracks at some point. It has a MIL-STD-810G compliant as well with a vertical dual rear camera.
Underneath the dual shooters, there’s a fingerprint scanner for easy access to the device. As expected, there’s a “G7 ThinQ” inscription at the back. Turning over to the sides, it measures 7.9 mm in thickness and weighs 162g overall. Below the volume keys, there’s a physical Google Assistant button. It’s available in New Platinum Gray, New Aurora Black, New Moroccan Blue and Raspberry Rose colours.
DISPLAY
This is LG’s first smartphone with the trending notch display, the Full Vision M+ panel relies on LCD technology, using an RGBW arrangement and the extra pixels to improve contrast. The screen delivers a brightness of over 1000 nits, while the bottom bezel came out to play a bit.
The 6.1-inch FHD+ IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen here is absolutely stunning and breathtaking. Boasting 1440 x 3120 pixels in resolution and 564 pixels per inch density, delivering amazing visuals. The screen has HDR 10 compliant, a Gorilla Glass 5 protective layer and stretches up to 82.6% of the front.
HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE
The powerful Snapdragon 845 chip from Qualcomm takes charge here with 8-cores processor and 64-bit CPU architecture. The Octa-core processor reaches a topmost speed of 2.8GHz which is manufactured on the 10nm process technology for a blazing performance. The Adreno 630 graphics processor from Qualcomm handles graphics for gaming and other graphics demanding tasks.
There are two versions here in terms of RAM and storage space, there’s a cheaper variant with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage space. While the expensive version also known as LG G7 Plus in some countries pack 128GB storage and 6GB RAM. Nonetheless, you can upgrade both storage space up to 256GB. The LG G7 ThinQ runs on Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box.
CAMERA
The first 16MP shooter has f/1.6 aperture, OIS, laser & PDAF features. While the second 16MP wide-angle lens underneath with f/1.9 aperture has laser & phase detection autofocus. The cameras can also have portrait mode feature and a LED flash by the side.
Other features on the camera includes, Geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, HDR, panorama and the rest. Record videos of 2160 pixels @ 30fps and 1080 pixels @60fps with HDR, 24-bit/192kHz stereo sound rec. Take cute selfies with the 8MP selfie camera that has f/1.9 aperture lens.
