LG V50 ThinQ 5G Full Specs and Price

LG showed up to this year’s MWC with three devices; one of which bears the name LG V50 ThinQ 5G and is 5G enabled which we will be taking a look at here. The V50 ThinQ 5G asides from being equipped with a Snapdragon 855 SoC – the one with the 5G modem – also has a 6.4-inch AMOLED display with a notch. There is 6GB of RAM, 128GB of expandable storage, a total of 5 cameras and a 4,000mAh battery with fast wired and wireless charging. Let’s find out more.

LG V50 ThinQ 5G Design And Display

LG V50 ThinQ 5G design is pretty basic with no wow factor. The display is a 6.4-inch 1440p+ AMOLED display with an eye-popping 537ppi and HDR10. Aspect ratio stands tall at 19:9 with the box-shaped cutout for the notch which houses the dual front-facing cameras. Bezels on this device are very slim, including the Chin.

The front of the device is covered with a Corning Gorilla Glass 5, so is the back with an aluminium frame. Talking about the back, we’ve got three cameras and an LED flash over there with the fingerprint sensor below it. A 5G Logo is seen at the top of the device’s back. Overall, the device weighs 183 grams, measures 8.3mm in thickness and is MIL-STD-810G compliant as well as having an IP68 rating. This device comes in just one colour; Astro Black

LG V50 ThinQ 5G Camera Review

The triple camera setup at the back consists of a 12MP shooter with an f/1.5 aperture, 3-axis OIS and a dual pixel PDAF, a secondary 12MP telephone camera with an f/2.4 aperture, 2x optical zoom, OIS and PDAF. Last on the rear camera list is the 16MP ultrawide camera with an f/1.9 aperture. The three rear camera features an LED flash, HDR and Panorama.

It can also record 4k videos at 30/60fps and 1080p videos at 30/60/240fps with support for HDR video and gyro-EIS. For selfies, the 8MP camera with an f/1.9 aperture paired with a secondary 5MP camera with an f/2.2 aperture takes care of your needs. The front facing camera also supports HDR and 1080p video recording at 60fps.

Inside this device is a Snapdragon 855 SoC – the one with the 5G Modem – which has an octa-core processor clocked at 2.84GHz paired with an Adreno 640 GPU. It comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage which can be expanded via the dedicated microSD card slot of up to 512GB. LG V50

ThinQ 5G runs Android 9.0 Pie out of the box with LG’s proprietary UI slapped on top. This device also has an accessory in form of a second display which connects to the device and acts like the foldable device of some sorts. Obviously, the accessory will be sold differently.

Battery & Network Connectivity

A 4,000mAh battery powers this device which is equipped with an 18W fast battery charging (Quick Charge 3.0 & USB PD 2.0) which can get you a 50% charge in just 30mins. It also has a 10W fast wireless charging, compatible with Qi. As you already know, it features 5G and 4G LTE. Other features include GPS, Bluetooth, WiFi, WiFi hotspot, WiFi direct, FM radio, a 3.5mm jack, NFC and a USB Type-C port with support for USB On The Go.

There is no official pricing for the LG V50 ThinQ 5G as at the time of writing this however the device is expected to go on sale sometime in Quarter 2 of the year.
