LG G8 ThinQ Full Specs and Price

LG G8 ThinQ was just unveiled at the ongoing MWC event Alongside its sibling the LG G8s ThinQ and LG’s first 5G smartphone – LG V50 ThinQ. The LG G8 ThinQ has the flagship Snapdragon 855 SoC on the inside however, this doesn’t come with the 5G modem. It also has a 6.1-inch AMOLED display with front and back glass, 6GB of RAM, 128GB of internal storage, 4 cameras in total and a 3,500mAH battery with fast charging and wireless charging support.

LG G8 ThinQ Design And Display

LG G8 ThinQ has a 6.1-inch notched AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 1440 x 3120 pixel, a pixel per inch density of 564 and an aspect ratio of 19:9. The notch here is the bathtub-shaped notch which holds the front-facing camera, speaker grill and sensors. The front and back of this device protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 giving it a Premium look and feel.

Talking about the back, there are three cameras, an LED and a fingerprint sensor located there. It is also MIL-STD-810G compliant and IP68 certified. LG G8 ThinQ weighs just 167 grams and measures 8.4mm. Carmine Red, New Aurora Black and New Moroccan Blue are the available colour options. There is a single SIM Variant which has a dedicated MicroSD card while the second dual SIM variant is a Hybrid slot – uses SIM 2 slot for MicroSD card.

LG G8 ThinQ Camera Review

There are a total of three cameras at the back of this device. The first is a 16MP camera with an f/1.5 aperture, OIS, PDAF and laser AF. Second is a 16MP ultrawide camera with an f/1.9 aperture and the third is a 12MP telephoto lens with an f/2.4 aperture 2x optical zoom, OIS and PDAF. Some markets variant of this device may have only a dual camera set up at the back. However, they will all come with an LED, HDR, Panorama and the ability to record 4k or 1080p videos at 30/60fps and 720p videos at 240fps, both with HDR and 24bit/192kHz stereo sound recording.

As for selfies, LG G8 ThinQ has an 8MP front-facing camera with an f/1.7 aperture with AF which is paired with a TOF (Time Of Flight) camera. The latter will be used for Face Unlock and a new feature called Air Motion which allows you to use air gestures to control your device.

LG G8 ThinQ Hardware and Software

LG G8 ThinQ is equipped with a Snapdragon 855 SoC – not the one with 5G – which has an Octa-core processor clocked at 2.84GHz paired with an Adreno 640 GPU. There is Only one configuration here which is the one with 6GB of RAM and 12GB of storage. Storage space can be expanded through the dedicated MicroSD card slot on the single-SIM variant and the second SIM Hybrid Slot on the dual SIM variant, up to 512GB. It runs the latest Android Operating System – Android 9.0 Pie – out of the box.

Battery & Network Connectivity

The 3,500mAh here on the LG G8 ThinQ supports both an 18W fast battery charging (Quick Charge 3.0) through the USB Type-C port and wireless charging. It has no 5G but it does have 4G LTE, GPS, WiFi, WiFi hotspot, WiFi direct, Bluetooth, NFC, FM radio and a 3.5mm jack.
