Mara Z is a smartphone from the Rwandan based smartphone company-Mara. The Mara Z packs a 5.7-inch HD+ display, a Snapdragon 435 Chipset with 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal, single front-facing and rear-facing camera, a 3075mAh battery and runs Android 9.0 Pie. Mara Z Design And Display

Mara Z has an aluminium brush build at the back and a slab of standard 2.5D glass at the front covering the display. The display itself is a 5.7-inch IPS LCD display with a screen resolution of 720p (720 x 1440p) and an 18:9 aspect ratio. This provides more than enough forehead and chin, unlike most 2019 smartphone.

The forehead houses the single front-facing camera while the chin is empty. At the back of the device is yet another single camera with an LED and fingerprint sensor underneath. Volume rockers are positioned on the left side while the power button sits alone at the right side.

Speaker, microUSB port and a 3.5mm jack take up the top side and the bottom side. This device weighs a total of 152grams and measures 7.96mm in thickness. Unfortunately, the Mara Z comes in only one colour which is Black.

Mara Z Camera Review

Mara Z has only two cameras distributed evenly. At the rear, we have a single 13MP shooter what can shoot 1080p videos at 30fps along with a host of other features. These features include an LED flash, HDR, PDAF, Auto HDR, portrait mode and night mode just to mention a few.

The selfie camera is also a 13MP sensor which can record 1080p videos at 30fps as well. It features beauty mode to make your selfies pop and fixed focus to really focus on the objects you want.

Hardware and Software

Mara Z uses a Snapdragon 435 chipset from Qualcomm which has an octa-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz paired with an Adreno 505 GPU. It also has 3GB of RAM for smooth running of apps and 32GB of internal storage to store the apps as well as other files.

If the 32GB of storage isn’t enough, you can also add more through the second SIM card slot that doubles as a microSD card slot. You can add up to 128GB of additional storage.

As for the software, it runs Android 9.0 Pie out of the box with no skin on top as it is part of the Android One program. Being part of the Android One program guarantees that it will get at least 2 years of software updates – Android 10 and 11 – and three years of monthly security patches.

Battery and Connectivity

Providing all the juice for the device is a 3,075mAh battery with no word on fast charging support. It has 4G LTE connectivity, Bluetooth, WiFi, WiFi hotspot, WiFi direct, WiFi display, GPS, FM radio, a 3.5mm jack and of course, a microUSB port through which charging as well as file transfer is done.
