Meizu 16X is the latest instalment to the Meizu 16th flagship family, the 16X is a watered-down variant of the Meizu 16th smartphone and comes along with the Snapdragon 710 chipset.
Impressively, it’s also built around a Super AMOLED display with an in-display fingerprint scanner. There’s 6GB RAM and 64GB/128GB storage variants. All these for an affordable price tag compared to other smartphones.

Design And Display
The phone is built with what Meizu calls Ceramic metal finish, and you can tell by how neatly polished it is. Furthermore, it has a U shaped antenna and sports dual rear camera.
Under the cameras sits a six ring Flash, there’s no rear camera here as it has been moved to the screen. It measures 7.5 mm in thickness and weighs 154g, it will be available in Black, White and Gold colours.
The front looks exactly like what we saw on the 16th and 16th Plus. The 16X sports an 18:9 aspect ratio full view display which boasts of the in-display fingerprint scanner. Speaking of the screen, it’s a 6-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels and 402 pixels per inch density for clear visuals. The screen also stretches up to 84% screen-to-body ratio.
Hardware and Software
Under the hood, Meizu adopted the Snapdragon 710 chip from Qualcomm to do the job. It’s built with a newer 10nm process technology and an octa-core processor clocking at 2.2GHz. In the graphics department, the Adreno 616 graphics processor takes charge.
For multitasking through apps, there’s a bigger 6GB RAM space available to handle all your heavy apps. While in the storage department, you get to choose from either a 128GB variant or a cheaper 64GB. It runs on the latest Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box with FlyMe on top.
Camera, Network And Connectivity
For photography, the 16X sports dual 12MP + 20MP rear shooters. The cameras can shoot 4Kvideos with f/1.8 + f/2.6 aperture, 1.55µm + 1.0µm pixel size and 1/2.3″ + 1/2.6″ sensor size respectively. While the 20MP Selfie Camera has f/2.0 aperture and 1.0 μm pixel size.
The Meizu 16X supports 4G LTE connectivity and accommodates dual Nano SIMs. It also has support for Bluetooth 4.2, USB Type C, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Hotspot and A-GPS, GLONASS.
Battery, Price And Availability
The Meizu 16X is powered by a non-removable 3100mAh battery with fast charging technology. Meizu 16X will be available on shopping stores, starting from $299 to $399, that’s about (N100,000 – N140,000).
