Meizu 17 Series debuts with 90Hz Refresh Rate and Snapdragon 865

Meizu has finally launched its much-awaited 2020 flagship device-the Meizu 17 series as the successor to the Meizu 16 series.

The new Meizu 17 debuts along with a plus variant called Meizu 17 Pro. Both smartphones are identical in almost everything.

They are both built around a 6.6″ Super AMOLED display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio, HDR10+ and 90Hz refresh rate. Underneath the display, you’ll find the fingerprint reader. Housing the 20MP selfie camera is the punch-hole cut-out, which is actually the first-timer for Meizu brand.

The quad-camera specs are where you get to see the difference between both devices. Their main camera sports a 64MP Sony IMX686 sensor. For the Meizu 17 Pro, the other three sensors are an 8MP telephoto with 8x zoom, a 32MP ultrawide with 129° FoV and a Samsung’s new S5K3 3D TOF camera for AR content and depth data. While for the vanilla Meizu 17, three sensors are a 12MP wide, an 8MP ultrawide and a 5MP macro camera.

Meizu 17 series

The Meizu 17 series is powered by Snapdragon 865 SoC which is paired with an 8GB or 12GB RAM. Software-wise, they both run on Flyme 8.1 skin on top of Android 10. Battery capacity for both phones is at 4,500 mAh with a 30W fast wired charging support. The Meizu 17 Pro also supports 27W wireless charging.

The Meizu 17 is already available for pre-order in White, Green and Grey body colours. The 8GB/128GB base model costs CNY3,699 while the 8GB/256GB version goes for CNY3,999.

For the Meizu 17 Pro, it is available in different body colour options, which are Mint Green, White and Black. The 8GB/128GB model retails for CNY4,299 while the 12/256GB is available at CNY4,299

Official sales in China begins on May 11, 2020. The company is also launching two limited edition variants. The first one is launching on May 25 which is called Collectors Edition 17 Pro which is priced at CNY9,999. The second one is for the Meizu 17 and is called the Aircraft Carrier, goes for CNY4,299 and will be available on May 27.
