Meizu C9 Launched with Face Unlock and Full View Display

Meizu C9 has been launched as an affordable smartphone with Face Unlock feature. The device was unveiled in Indonesia in a private event with all of its specs and features made available for the world to see. It was slightly teased with the Meizu 16X and Meizu X8, but there wasn’t an official introduction.

According to this report by Mobile Crypto Tech, the C9 is powered by the new Spreadtrum SC9832E which supports machine learning and was optimized to power up budget-friendly smartphones. Let’s find out more about this device.

Design And Display

The Meizu C9 is built with Polycarbonate and Metal, specifically a metal frame and a Polycarbonate back that’s quite rough when held. At the top middle, we can see the rear camera.

There’s a LED flash underneath, while the Meizu logo follows closely underneath. It sports a loudspeaker at the bottom corner as well, the device measures 9.7mm in thickness and weighs 150g overall.

Turning to the front, you will be greeted by the Full View display with extremely narrow bezels at the edges. There’s a selfie camera and loudspeaker at the top bezel as well.

The Meizu C9 is built around a 5.45-inch HD+ IGZO capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels and 295 pixels per inch density for clear visuals. The screen also stretches up to 73.87% screen-to-body ratio.

Hardware and Software

Meizu integrated the new SC9832E chipset from Spreadtrum with machine learning. The chip comes with a quad-core processor and a clock speed of up to 1.3GHz. In the graphics department, the ARM Mali-400 MP2 graphics processor takes charge.

There are two versions in terms of RAM and storage space. There’s one with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage space and an upcoming expensive variant with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage space as well. It runs on the latest Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box with FlyMe 7.0.

Camera, Network And Connectivity

The C9 is equipped with a 13MP rear camera with has a 5-element lens and phase detection. While selfies can be taken with the 8MP selfie shooter with f/2.2 aperture which supports Face Unlock.

The Meizu C9 supports 4G LTE connectivity and accommodates dual Nano SIMs. It also has support for Bluetooth 4.2, USB Type C, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Hotspot and A-GPS, GLONASS.

Battery, Price And Availability

The C9 is powered by a removable 3000mAh battery with no fast charging technology. It is already available on shopping stores, starting from $89 to $99, that’s about (N30,000 – N35,000).
