As a tech website that covers smartphones that are released in Nigeria, We felt why don’t we cover the top most searched phones of 2022 in Nigeria? When I first saw the list I was surprised. I was curious to find out why these phones were the topmost searched phones in Nigeria.
My curiosity led me to come up with this article. Most of the phones that were searched the most were budget phones, and it shows you our spending habits in Nigeria. Well, enough of the chitchat let’s go ahead and share with you the most searched phones of 2022 on Google.

1. iPhone 14 Pro Max
The iPhone 14 pro max was released towards the end of 2022. I am not surprised that the phone is on this list. The latest apple iPhones always take the shine when they are released and they trend a lot. It has the same design as iPhone 13 Pro Max with a slightly larger camera bump. Apple introduced the dynamic island on the iPhone 14 Pro Max. The added functionality to the notch was awesome. It also comes with a new 48-megapixel camera that should be able to snap better-looking images but that hasn’t been the case. Nigerians love the Apple iPhone and I’m not surprised that it’s on this list.
2. iPhone 13 Pro Max
The second one on the list of the most searched phones of 2022 in Nigeria is the iPhone 13 Pro Max. After the release of the iPhone 14 series, the iPhone 13 Pro MAX had a price cut. It still performs great and it also has excellent cameras. The phone has one of the best battery life of any phone in existence right now. You can get up to 10 hours of battery life depending on how you use the phone. People searched for this one majorly towards the beginning of 2022 because it was released at the end of 2021.
3. Tecno Camon 19
There was a major hype when Tecno announced the Camon 19 series. The series included the Camon 19 Pro, Camon 19 Pro 5G, and the regular Camon 19. Tecno normally focuses on camera power with the Camon series. The phones are targeted at the mid-range market and they all had good cameras last year. All the phones had an outstanding unique design and a color-changing back for the pro models. There was a special edition Tecno Camon 19 pro-Mondrian edition. That special edition Camon 19 Pro was the talk of the town and I’m not surprised that the Camon 19 is on this list.
4. Infinix Note 12
I was among the first people to test out the Infinix Note 12 when it was released. The phone came with an AMOLED display but it didn’t have a high refresh rate and that might have been a deal breaker. It was powered by the Helio G96 but there was a cheaper variant powered by the Helio G88. The phone had 8GB RAM and up to 256 gigabytes of storage space. It came with a 50-megapixel main camera and a 16-megapixel selfie camera and could shoot videos at 1440P. The battery here was 5000mAH and it supported 33W fast charging.
5. Tecno Spark 7
The Tecno Spark 7 was released in 2021 It is more of an entry-level device. I was surprised when I saw the phone on the list but then you have to put into consideration the spending habits of most Nigeria. The phone is cheap and it’s probably around 60,000 naira. The specs of the phone are OK when you consider the price and it has a 5000mAh battery.
6. Infinix Note 11
The Infinix Note 11 was released towards the end of 2021 and it’s no surprise that it’s one of the most searched phones of 2022. It came with a large 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a 720P resolution. The phone was powered by the MediaTek Helio G88 and it had up to Up 6GB ram on 128 gig storage space. Advisably it will be better to buy the infinix note 12 since it’s more of the same thing. The phone is on this list because it was searched on Google towards the beginning of 2022.
7. Redmi Note 11
The Redmi Note 11 is a budget phone but thanks to the exchange rate the price kept on increasing in 2022. It came with a plastic design and it also had IP53 dust and splash resistance. The phone came with an AMOLED display and a 90Hz refresh rate. It had a full HD plus resolution and the display was protected by Gorilla Glass 3. The phone was powered by the Snapdragon 680 4G and it had up to 6GB RAM and 128 gigs of storage space. It had a 5000mAh battery that could last a complete day and it supported 33 watts of fast charging.
8. Infinix Smart 6
The Infinix Smart 6 is another budget option on this list. It came with an IPS LCD with 720P resolution, and the size of the display was 6.6 inches. The phone is powered by a UNISOC processor and it runs 11 Go edition. There are two variants one with 2GB RAM and the other with 3GB RAM and you should get the one with 3GB RAM. The phone has an 8-megapixel main camera and a 5-megapixel selfie camera. Battery here was 5000mAh and it could last an entire day on a single charge.
9. Tecno Spark 9
The Tecno spark 9 is the ninth most searched phone in Nigeria for 2022. In 2022 the Spark 9 series made a lot of sense. Tecno release the Spark 9 Pro and Spark 9T and they were all exceptional. For the first time, we had a 32-megapixel selfie camera on a Spark series phone by Tecno. The phones had a very good design that was reminiscent of the Camon 19 series. Let’s see what 2023 has for the Tecno Spark series in general.
10. Tecno Spark 8
The last one that makes the list complete is the Tecno spark 8. It was released in September 2021 and Tecno followed up with another Spark 8C in January 2022. The Spark 8C was my favorite because it brought memory fusion and a high refresh rate to an entry-level device. It offered a lot of value for money and I understand why a lot of people were searching for the Tecno Spark 8. The battery on the camera was okay and the performance was also positive.

It shows the spending pattern of Nigerians when it comes to buying smartphones. The most expensive phones that were released in 2022 didn’t even make it on this list.
