Motorola Moto Z3 Play Full Specs Review

Motorola Moto Z3 Play is now official guys, the device is the updated version of the Z2 Play that was released last year by Motorola. With the Z3 Play introduced, we are certain other Z3 series will be out in the coming weeks. Of course, there have been a few upgrades.

The Moto Z3 Play looks like Motorola smartphones no doubt, the 3.5mm jack is still missing just like on the Z2. This means Motorola doesn’t have plans of bringing it back on its Z series. There’s 4GB RAM and 64GB/32GB storage space.

DESIGN

The Z3 Play sports an aluminium alloy overall unibody, and an aluminium frame as well. The Corning Gorilla Glass 3 is on top as well, this makes the device reflect light beautifully and very sleek to handle. At the top middle, we can see the circular foundation.

This houses the horizontal rear cameras and a dual-LED flash as well. Turning to the sides, we can see the usual buttons and fingerprint scanner, it measures 6.8mm in thickness and weighs 156g. It’s also splash and dust resistant, you can only get it in Deep Indigo.

DISPLAY

The Z3 Play screen dishes out an 18:9 aspect ratio, something that was missing on the Z2 Play. The physical home button is nowhere to be found as well, with Fingerprint scanner moving to the side. Overall the Z3 gives you more screen than bezels but let’s give you the details.

The massive 6.01-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen will definitely make you happy if you’re into games or movies. It has a resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels and 402 pixels per inch density. The screen got up to 77.9% of the front with the Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on top.

HARDWARE and SOFTWARE

Powering the Z3 Play is the Snapdragon 636 mid-range chip from Qualcomm with 8-core processor and 64-bit CPU architecture. The Octa-core processor clocks at the normal speed of 1.8GHz with 14nm process technology. In the graphics department, the Adreno 509 GPU does its job.

Multitask heavy apps with 4GB RAM, it has a memory speed of almost 1GHz as well. While for storage, there are two versions, one with 64GB and a cheaper variant with 32GB. You can upgrade both versions up to 400GB using a memory card. It runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with a modified user interface.

CAMERA

At the rear, the 12MP + 5MP were positioned perfectly and take amazing photographs with portrait modes as well. The 12MP shooter has a f/1.7 aperture, 1.4µm pixel size and Dual-Pixel autofocus. Other features include dual pixel phase detection, dual-LED dual-tone flash, touch focus, face detection, panorama and Auto-HDR. Easily record videos of 2160p@30fps and 1080p@30/60fps. The 8MP selfie camera has f/2.0 aperture and 1.12µm pixel size. But it has lost its front LED flash.

BATTERY

The Motorola Moto Z3 Play is powered by a non-removable Li-Ion 3000mAh battery with fast charging technology.

PRICE AND AVAILABILITY

Motorola Moto Z3 Play is available on shopping stores, starting from $499 to $549, that’s about (N200,000 – N220,000).
