Every year, just like clockwork, OnePlus releases their first flagship of the year sometime within the first half of the year as an upgrade, succeeding their previously released device. This is always followed by another slight upgrade to the flagship which always comes with the T in its name within the second half the year. This year’s flagship is the OnePlus 7 and although we’re still far out from the launch date, the specifications of the yet to be released device have been all over the internet, including some renders giving us a glimpse at what to expect design-wise.
OnePlus 7 Specifications
First off, and most likely the bigger change here is the use of a motorised pop mechanism to house the front-facing camera that slides out front the top of the device, just like the one found on the Vivo Nex S. This has made the bezels a lot more Slimer all around which should yield an impressive screen to body, although there are no Offical numbers on that for that.
The 6.5-inch AMOLED display which now has no notch covers almost the front of the device. Inside the device will be no other than the all-new Snapdragon 855 SoC (it’s still unclear if it is the one with the 5G modem or not), an Adreno 640 GPU, 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 256GB of in-built storage.
It may also come in other configurations other than the one listed here. The motorised pop mechanism will house a 16MP front-facing camera while a Triple 48MP + 20MP + 16MP camera setup sits at the back. It will run OnePlus’s OxygenOS out of the box as usual, but this will be based on Android 9.0 Pie.
It will also have a 4,000mAh battery capacity, the first OnePlus to do so and will be equipped with fast charging – either OnePlus’s Dash Charge or Oppo’s VOOC. Talking about charging, the CEO of OnePlus; Pete Lau has also come out to say that there won’t be wireless charging on the upcoming OnePlus 7 device so that has been confirmed. Asides from that, you can take the rest with the pinch of salt till the official release of the Smartphone.
OnePlus 7 Release Date and Price
As for the official release date and price, we could see the device launched before Q2 of this year as OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 5 were launched in May and June of their respective years. Pricing is also something that’ll be interesting as rumors suggest a $549 or lower price tag but only time will tell.
