The OnePlus 8 is built to impress and it surely did. The front and back Corning Gorilla Glass is sandwiched with an aluminium frame. Two of its body colour options (Interstellar Glow and Onyx Black) comes with a glossy finish while the Glacial Green has a matte finish.

The front is home to a punch-hole display with little bezel at the top and bottom. The screen is curved into the edges, similar to the Samsung Galaxy S-series. At the back, we have a simple camera module at the top middle with LED flash underneath it and the OnePlus brand name. The fingerprint reader is located underneath the display. The phone weighs 180 grams and measures 8mm in thickness.

The phone features a 6.55″ Fluid AMOLED display with curved edges. Enjoy the fast and smooth 90Hz refresh rate designed for seamless motion. Colours are vivid with vibrant details. As expected, the display features a 1080p resolution and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass. Also, the display has an A+ rating from DisplayMate and an SGS Eye Care display certification.

Hardware and Software

Performance-wise, the OnePlus 8 comes with the latest Snapdragon 865 SoC with X55 dual-mode 5G capable of connecting to multiple networks at the same time. It also comes with the latest Wi-Fi 6 with incredible peak speed.

There is only two memory configuration available; 8GB RAM with 128GB UFS 3.0 storage and 12GB RAM with 256GB UFS 3.0 storage. Additional storage is not possible as the smartphone has no microSD slot. Running inside the smartphone is the smooth OxygenOS 10 with intuitive features. The skin is built on Android 10 operating system.

You can shoot epic photos and video with the OnePlus 8 since it comes with an advanced 48MP triple camera system. The 48MP main camera features Sony’s old IMX586 sensor which means it doesn’t have the Omni-directional AF. It does support Pixel binning and features OIS+EIS. The second camera features an ultra-wide-angle lens with 116° Field of View which is ideal for capturing group photo or landscape.

And finally a 2MP dedicated macro camera as the third one. Since there is no telephoto camera here, 2x zoom function rests on the 48MP camera which can be done via cropping. The selfie camera features a 16MP snapper with f/2.0 aperture and auto-HDR.

The device is equipped with high capacity battery and you can enjoy the OnePlus 8 device for up to a full day thanks to its high-capacity 4,300 mAh battery. It gets up to 55% battery life in just 22 minutes of charging with the Warp Charge 30T technology.
