Recent reports from Reddit users suggest that some Pixel 6 devices are becoming bricked after installing the Android 15 update, specifically when using the newly introduced “Private Space” feature. While not all users are affected, the increasing number of cases points to a potentially serious issue, and Google has yet to provide an official response.
The Issue
The problem appears to occur when users enable the Private Space feature. Two users, GegoByte and Homer_95, shared their experiences on Reddit, with GegoByte reporting that their phone became unresponsive after launching an app within Private Space. Similarly, Homer_95’s device bricked during regular use, despite having sufficient battery.

Both users described their devices as completely non-functional, with standard troubleshooting methods—such as holding down the Power and Volume Down buttons—failing to resolve the issue. Connecting the phones to a computer did not provide any relief either.
Initially, some speculated that the problem could be related to user profiles, similar to issues seen in the Android 14 update. However, with more reports of bricked devices, it seems the issue may extend beyond just the Private Space feature.
Android 15 New Features
Android 15 introduced several privacy and security features, including Private Space, which allows users to isolate sensitive apps and data. Unfortunately, this feature has led to unexpected problems for some Pixel 6 users. Other key features in the update include Theft Detection, enhanced multitasking for foldable devices, and improved integration with smart home devices.

Though the Android 15 update has rolled out to other Pixel models without major issues, the Pixel 6 appears uniquely affected. This raises concerns about potential compatibility issues or bugs specific to this model. Affected users are advised to avoid enabling the Private Space feature until Google addresses the problem.
With numerous reports of Pixel 6 devices becoming completely unresponsive, users are urged to proceed cautiously with the new update, especially when testing features like Private Space. A quick fix from Google is anticipated.
