American multinational company, Qualcomm introduces three new chipsets today. The new Snapdragon 460, 662 and 720G are for entry-level/budget and mid-range smartphones.
The Snapdragon 720G is kind of similar to the 765G as it features elite gaming features. The mid-range chip is built on 8nm manufacturing process tech and supports quick charge 4.0. Its CPU configuration is an eight Kryo 465 cores clocked up to 2.3 GHz. The graphics processing unit is Adreno 618. Other features includes Dual VoLTE; Wi-Fi 6 Bluetooth 5.1, Spectra 350L; Up to 192 MP; 4K @ 30 fps and Snapdragon X15 LTE modem.
The Snapdragon 662 and 460 chipsets support quick charge 3.0 and are built on 11nm manufacturing process tech. The 662 will become the first Qualcomm 600-series to support a triple camera. The 460 chipset is the most powerful 400-series based on CPU and GPU. It comes with eight cores of Kryo 240 processor clocked up to 1.8 GHz. Both the 460 and 662 features Adreno 610 GPU. While the CPU configuration on the 662 chip is eight cores of Kryo 260 clocked up to 2.0 GHz.
All three platforms come with 4G connectivity. According to the company, gaming should be a lot more affordable with them. The most fascinating chipset in terms of the gaming experience is the Snapdragon 720G. Regardless, most OEM companies have said that they will work closely with Qualcomm as they introduce smartphones featuring these chipsets. OEM companies like Xiaomi and Redmi have confirmed to be working on something already. So hopefully before the first half of 2020, we should see these chipsets in action.
