The Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 has been announced and the new chipset promises to offer premium features for less money. The chip will power newer mid-range smartphones and will offer significant performance and battery life improvements, it will also make these devices less expensive. The first smartphone to house the chip will debut in the coming weeks and we can’t wait to see what it brings.
The Snapdragon 710 is an update to the Snapdragon 660 premium mid-range chip. The company recently announced its 700 chipset series which focuses on the competitive mid-range market. Now, the 710 is the first entry chip from this series, coming with AI, premium features and improved performance compared to the 660. The 710 also offers stronger image processing thanks to added hardware acceleration and optimization.
As expected, the 710 chip offers reduced power consumption and was built with a 10nm process technology. You’ll be able to capture 4K HDR video with 40% less power consumption than on the 660. I think it’s safe to say that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 is a chipset that brings the mid-range 600 series and high-end 800 series features together. The chipset comes with an octa-core processor, two ARM Cortex-A75 cores clocking at 2.2GHz. While the other six ARM Cortex-A55 cores clocks at 1.7GHz and offers efficiency.

The Snapdragon 710 will definitely redefine mid-range smartphones. It’s the first Non-800 platform to include a second generation Spectra image signal processor, also the first with 10nm process technology. We can also see the new Adreno 616 graphics processor, which Qualcomm claims will offer 35% faster graphics rendering while consuming 40% less power, this, however, is compared to the Adreno 512 on the 660. The Adreno 616 graphics processor will also deliver an amazing gaming experience.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 was built to offer 20% overall increase in performance, 25% faster web browsing, and 15% faster app load times compared to the 660. Oh, let’s not forget 10% improved battery life as well. It’s now up to smartphone manufacturers to harness the Snapdragon 710 true potential and implement the Artificial Intelligence features as well.
