Realme X2 Pro debuts with Snapdragon 855+ SoC and 90Hz OLED display

It seems Oppo’s sub-brand, Realme are ready to play the big boys game. The smartphone company just announced the Realme X2 Pro, a flagship ready to compete in the high-end market against the likes of Huawei, Xiaomi, OnePlus e.t.c.

It is the Pro version of the Realme X2, which is purely a mid-range device. And it seems only the naming happens to be what the two device share in common.

The Realme X2 Pro sports a 6.5-inch “fluid” Super AMOLED display with 90Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ and DCI-P3. Underneath this display, is a much-improved fingerprint reader, which unlocks in 0.23 seconds. For comparison purposes, the in-display fingerprint reader on the Realme X2 unlocks in 0.36 seconds.

Inside the X2 Pro is the powerful Snapdragon 855+ chipset with RAM options of 6GB, 8GB & 12GB. This is the first Realme smartphone to feature a Snapdragon 800-series chipset. For gamers, there is a vapour chamber which helps cool down the chipset. More stable frame rate is promised with the HyperBoost 2.0. Also, touch sensitivity is increased by 35% thanks to Touch Boost 2.0.

Powering the device is a 4,000 mAh battery with 50W SuperVOOC fast charging support. It also supports Qualcomm QuickCharge standards and USB Power Delivery. The charging dynamics of this device is impressive. Not only does it take 30 mins to get to 80%, but you can also make use of a MacBook charger.

At the back of the X2 Pro is a quad camera setup just like you have on the Realme X2. The setup configuration is a 64MP Samsung GW1 camera with f/1.8 aperture and wide lens, a 13MP camera with f/2.5 aperture, PDAF, 2x optical zoom and telephoto lens, an 8MP camera with f/2.2 aperture, PDAF and ultrawide lens and a 2MP depth camera with f/2.4 aperture. Upfront is a 16MP selfie camera with Quad Bayer filter, Nightscape mode and EIS.

The Realme X2 Pro will debut in two body colour options; Ocean Blue and Midnight Silver. There will be a Master Edition which will come in grey and red colours. There is no microSD slot available, so have that in mind before purchasing. The phone has three storage options; 64GB UFS 2.1 storage, 128GB and 256GB UFS 3.0 storage.

The flagship is expected to go on sale in China on the 18th of October. The 6/64GB base model will cost $380/€345.

Then the 8/128GB model at $410/€370. While the top-spec is 12/256GB and costs $465/€425. The X2 Pro Master Edition has just one single memory option – 12/256GB. And it costs the same price as the standard edition.
