The first true 9-series Exynos is finally here, as it will most likely debut in the Samsung Galaxy S9. Although it is still made with the 10nm process, the Exynos 9810 is a premium chipset. The Exynos 8895 in the Note 8 was initially marketed as “8-series” before being marketed as “9-series”. So the Exynos 9810 is the first true “9-series” by Samsung.
No official statement has been made if the new Exynos 9810 by Samsung would be powering Samsung S9 and S9 plus. At first, we thought S9 and S9 plus would be housing the new processor, but looking at the specs that Samsung listed, we are not certain anymore.
The Exynos 9810 was designed with 10nm production node with second generation process. It is more refined and offers higher performance while consuming less power. According to sources, the chipset on the Galaxy S9 will be a 7nm affair for Snapdragon 845 in the US, and 8nm in Exynos models. Although that’s not what the new 9810 is offering right now, it seems to be adding value in various other ways.
The new chipset, Exynos 9810 is certified to not be an 8nm chipset. But it packs new graphics and fast downloads of up to 1.2GB per second. Samsung lists the new chipset as having; “upgraded GPU, 3rd-generation custom CPU cores, and gigabit LTE modem with industry-first 6CA support.”
We don’t know what the powerful graphics subsystem is, but the 6CA was announced by the company this summer. When they promise to integrate it into its next-gen mobile chipset, which is the Exynos 9810. With the 1.2Gbps and more stable downloads, it looks like Samsung is getting ready for the upcoming 5G era.
Galaxy S9 is supposed to go into mass production next month, as it is expected to be out early next year. So we wouldn’t be surprised if it houses 7nm Snapdragon 845. Perhaps the new Exynos 9810 might be specifically designed for Galaxy 10 or Galaxy X.
