The Galaxy A80 has been unveiled as the perfect embodiment of Samsung’s new “Era of Live” design philosophy for the maker’s revamped A-series. It achieves this feat with a motorized pop-up, coupled with a spring-loaded rotate mechanism, which enables the rear shooter to face forward to handle your selfie needs.
This smartphone brings the highest quality selfie photos as well as videos. To ensure that capability, the A80 is equipped with the highest resolution sensor in any Samsung Galaxy smartphone: A 48-megapixel unit that features an f/2.0 lens. This camera has the Super Steady mode, inspired by the Galaxy S10, for enhancing your videos. You can now appreciate the fact that “Era of Live” axes static selfie photos and transitions towards videos that you could stream to a global crowd.
The 48-MP module is paired with an 8-MP ultra-wide angle camera that offers a 123-degree field of video. This functionality lets you get more of your friends into those spectacular shots you capture, even at arm’s length. The third module in the setup is a 3D time-of-flight (ToF) sensor, giving you Live Focus for shots and even videos as it helps in simulating a shallow depth of field that can be easily controlled with a single tap.
The phone design, which ensures the camera is smoothly tucked behind the back, implies there isn’t any need for a notch or a hole. The roomy 6.7-inch Super AMOLED screen offers an immersive experience and is completely flawless. This display provides a screen resolution of 1080 x 2,400 pixels, along with an in-display fingerprint reader.
The Galaxy A80 is engineered with a metal frame that has curved glass on either side. And a 3700mAh battery with 25W Super-Fast Charging support ensures that the phone is adequately powered and quickly charged. It doesn’t have the wireless charging option, just like the A70.
This mobile device will ship with out-of-the-box Android 9 Pie and One UI. In the hardware department, the A80 offers you 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Sorry to disappoint you — neither higher capacity options nor microSD slot is available.
The Samsung Galaxy A80 will hit stores in Angel Gold, Phantom Black, and Ghost White colours. The Ghost White and Angel Gold colour options change, slightly, based on the level of light that reflects off them, which will create a touch of blue and pink, respectively. It will go for $730 (€649) and will be available for sale starting May 29.
