After series of leaks and renders, Samsung finally unveiled its a trio of the 10th generation or rather, instalments of the Samsung Galaxy S Series. The event Brought forth the Samsung Galaxy S10, S10+ and a ‘budget’ friendly S10e. The Samsung Galaxy S10, which we will be taking a look at here comes with a 6.1-inch Dynamic AMOLED display with HDR10, top of line Snapdragon 855 SoC, a triple camera setup, 3,400mAh battery capacity and a runs Samsung’s New One UI out of the box which is based on Android 9.0 Pie. Samsung Galaxy S10 Design And Display

The design of the Samsung Galaxy S10 has been in the news for quite some time and they were pretty much correct. The device has a Corning Gorilla glass at the back and also at the front on top the 6.1-inch 1440p Dynamic AMOLED display with an eye-popping 550ppi. Obviously, it uses a 19:9 aspect ratio with a punch-hole camera at the top right corner of the screen leading to a virtually nonexistent bezel at the top and just a little bit of chin at the bottom.

This device also uses an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor which leaves the back of the device with only the triple camera setup. Samsung Galaxy S10 is packed with a total of 4 cameras, 3 of which are located at the back. Talking about the rear cameras, it is made up of a main 12MP wide angle camera with a varying aperture of f/1.5-2.4, dual Pixel PDAF and OIS, a secondary 12MP telephoto lens with an f/2.4 aperture, Auto Focus, OIS and 2x optical zoom, lastly is a 16MP ultrawide Camera with an f/2.2 aperture.

Features of the rear camera include an LED flash, Auto-HDR and Panorama. It can also record 4k, 1080p and 720p videos at 60, 240 and 960fps respectively with the ability to record a video using both the front facing and rear camera at once. For selfies, there is a single 10MP camera with an f/1.9 aperture in the punch-hole which has dual Pixel PDAF, Auto HDR and can also record 4k and 1080p videos at 30fps.

There two versions available here depending on the market. One comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC; a 7nm based chipset with an octa-core processor clocked at 2.8GHz, paired with an Adreno 640 GPU. The other has a Samsung Exynos 9820 SoC; an 8nm based chipset with an octa-core processor clocked at 2.7GHz, paired with a Mali-G76 MP12.

Regardless of the SoC in the one available in your region, they’ll both have 8GB of RAM with either 128GB or 512GB of storage. Storage space can also be expanded further for the dual SIM variant which uses the Hybrid second SIM slot for a microSD card slot as well. It runs Samsung’s new One UI out of the box which is based on Android 9.0 Pie. This device is also IP68 certified which means it is water and dust proof.

Battery & Network Connectivity

Samsung Galaxy S10 has a 3,400mAh battery capacity with a 15W fast charging and also a 15W wireless charging. It can also be used as a power bank as it supports reverse wireless charging for Qi-compatible devices, with a maximum of just 9W. Other features of the Samsung Galaxy S10 includes, dual 4G LTE connectivity with VoLTE, dual-band WiFi, WiFi hotspot, WiFi direct, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC, FM radio, Heart rate sensor, Samsung DeX and a USB Type-C port with support for USB On The Go. Surprisingly, it still retains the 3.5mm jack which comes with Dolby Atmos/AKG sound.

Starting price for the Samsung Galaxy S10 is just a little above a thousand dollars at $1100 for the based version with 8GB/256GB, slightly higher if you want more storage. Pre-order has already begun and sales are expected to start soon. We expect the price in Nigeria to start from N390,000-400,000 Naira
