Sharp Aquos R2 has been launched by the company as their flagship smartphone of the year. Although there’s still a possibility of Sharp releasing a much more powerful smartphone before the end of the year. Till then, the Aquos R2 with Snapdragon 845 is still the company’s best smartphone.
Apart from housing Qualcomm’s most powerful chip, its octa-core processor clocks at 2.6GHz. There’s a massive 6-inch bezel-less screen as well with a selfie notch on top. Without further ado, meet the Sharp Aquos R2.

DESIGN
The device has an aluminium frame and overall unibody that reflects light beautifully. Thanks to the Corning Glass at the rear, making the device live up to its expectations in terms of design. The R2 boasts of IPX5/IPX8/IP6X certifications as well, offering water and dust resistant.
At the top left corner, we can see the dual vertical cameras, bringing out the sleekness of the device. In a unique twist of event, the LED flash is now beside the dual shooters. It measures 9mm slim when you turn over to the sides but weighs 181g overall as well. It’s available in only Black and White colours.
DISPLAY
The screen dishes out an 19:9 aspect ratio, thanks to the selfie notch. This is not the first Sharp smartphone with the Essential-like notch be though. The S3 Mini comes with the selfie notch and it seems Sharp is totally loving it.
The 6-inch IGZO IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen is pretty brilliant, displaying stunning visuals. It has a resolution of 1440 x 3040 pixels and 561 pixels per inch density, with this high PPI, everything on the screen Will be crystal clear.
HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE
It houses the powerful Snapdragon 845 BV chip from Qualcomm. The octa-core processor runs at an impressive speed of 2.6GHz with 10nm FinFET process technology delivering a brilliant performance. The Adreno 630 graphics processor manages graphics.
For multitasking, there’s a RAM space of 4GB which has a memory speed of over 1.5GHz for smooth multitasking. While in the storage department, space is 64GB strong and ready to accommodate files. You can always upgrade up to 400GB anytime, with a memory card. The Sharp Aquos R2 runs on Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box.
CAMERA
Dual 22.6MP + 16.3MP rear shooters are present here, but it’s not what you think. The 16.3MP rear camera comes first at the top and handles all your photography needs, while the 22.6MP camera underneath is ONLY for videos. The 22.6MP video dedicated shooter records 4K videos with ease. There’s another 16.3MP with its own notch for selfies.
