Sharp Aquos R3 is a new smartphone from the Sharp-a popular TV maker. Yes, they also make smartphones now. The new Sharp Aquos comes with a dual notch – one at the top and one at the bottom and this isn’t the first time Sharp is doing something like this. The Sharp Aquos R2 Compact also had two display. Asides from the notch galore on this smartphone, it also has the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC, 6GB of RAM, 128GB of internal storage and a 3,200mAh battery capacity.

Sharp Aquos R3 Design And Display
Sharp Aquos R3 has a rather weird look thanks to its two notches. The 6.2-inch Pro IGZO Panel uses a 19:9 aspect with a water drop notch at the top housing the front facing camera while the bottom bathtub houses the home button which also doubles as a fingerprint sensor – no in-display sensor here. The display also has an impressive refresh rate of 120Hz and has HDR10 certification.
Turning over to the back is the dual camera setups and an LED flash placed in the top left corner of the device back. As at the time of writing this, the colour options for this device Haven’t been revealed yet.
Sharp Aquos R3 Camera Review
The front-facing camera on the Sharp Aquos R3 is a single 16.3MP shooter sitting comfortably at the notch up top. At the back is a dual rear camera with the first being a 12.2MP sensor with an f/1.7 aperture for photos and a secondary 20MP sensor with an f/2.4 aperture for videos. There are also some camera features like an LED flash, HDR, Panorama and AI Live Shutter and AI Live Story among others.
Hardware and Software
Inside the Sharp Aquos R3 is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC which has an octa-core processor clocked at 2.84GHz paired with an Adreno 640 GPU for graphics and games. As for running apps, there is 6GB of RAM on board and 128GB of storage for files. The smartphone also runs the latest Android 9.0 Pie which will have their UI skin slapped on top.
Battery & Network Connectivity
A rather small 3,200mAh battery powers this device with support for up to 18W fast battery charging and 11W Qi wireless charging. No 5G here but it does have 4G LTE, Bluetooth, WiFi, WiFi hotspot, WiFi direct and GPS.

Pricing, as well as the release date for this device, haven’t been announced yet but it should be pretty soon as everything there is to know about the device is already out there.
