TECNO Camon 12 Vs Pouvoir 3 Plus: Which one offers the best Value for Money?

The Tecno Camon 12 is the newest addition to the Camon series. It comes with a pro version called the Camon 12 Pro.

For the purpose of this article, we’ll be pitching the Camon 12 against the Tecno Pouvoir 3 Plus.

While the Camon 12 is all about “camera”, the Pouvoir 3 Plus is all about “Power”, which can be translated as “battery”.

Now that we know the key area of both phones, we’ll try to figure out which one of them offers the best value.

If you’re at a crossroads between the Camon 12 and Pouvoir 3 Plus, this article will be of great help to you.

Design

The Camon 12 draws inspiration from the Tecno Phantom 9. It’s made from shinning polycarbonate material. While the Pouvoir 3 Plus is made from pure plastic.

The Pouvoir 3 Plus measures 9.17mm in thickness and weighs 209 grams. Whereas, the Camon 12 measures 8.2mm in thickness and weighs just 164 grams.

Pouvoir’s big battery plays a major role in its weight and thickness. At the back of both devices are fingerprint readers for biometric security.

Display

The display of both phones features a waterdrop notch. The Camon 12 sports a 6.52-inch LCD screen size with 720 x 1600 pixels resolution and 19.5:9 aspect ratio.

The display of the Camon 12 is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Moving on to Pouvoir 3 Plus, we have a 6.35-inch AMOLED screen size with 720 x 1548 pixels resolution and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Protecting the display of the Pouvoir 3 Plus is Asahi dragon tail glass. The Camon 12 obviously has the better display.

Camera

This is a category, one will expect the Camon 12 to triumph since the smartphone is camera-oriented.

Both phones have a triple rear camera albeit different features. On the Camon 12 is a 16MP main sensor, a 5MP ultrawide sensor and 2MP depth sensor. While the Pouvoir 3 Plus packs a 13MP main, 5MP ultrawide and 2MP depth sensors.

The selfie camera department also sees a win for the Camon 12. The device sports a 16MP selfie shooter. Whereas, the Pouvoir 3 Plus manages an 8MP selfie shooter.

The word “Camon” literally means a camera. And the Camon 12 comes with various AI beautification features you won’t see on the Pouvoir 3 Plus. The Camon 12 should be an easy pick if you’re a camera lover.

Hardware and Software

Powering both the Camon 12 and Pouvoir 3 Plus is the MediaTek Helio P22 SoC. This chipset packs an Octa-core (4×2.0 GHz Cortex-A53 & 4×1.8 GHz Cortex-A53) processor with PowerVR GE8320 GPU. It is built on a 12nm FINFET process technology.

The memory configuration on the Camon 12 is 4GB RAM with 64GB storage. While for the Pouvoir 3 Plus it comes in two memory variants, 3GB RAM with 32GB storage and 4GB RAM with 64GB storage. Both Tecno smartphones run on the latest Android 9 Pie and slapped with Tecno’s HiOS skin on top.

Battery

We saw the Camon 12 dominate the Pouvoir 3 Plus in the camera department, now it’s time for the Pouvoir 3 Plus to return the favour.

The Pouvoir 3 Plus comes with a gigantic 6,000 mAh battery capacity. While the Camon 12 houses a 4,000 mAh battery. The Pouvoir 3 Plus will appeal more to battery lovers as it offers 50% more battery capacity than what you get on the Camon 12.

Verdict

The Camon 12 has a starting price of N47,500. Whereas, the 3/32GB version of the Pouvoir 3 Plus cost N46,000 and the 4GB/64GB version cost N50,000.

This all boils down to preference. If you fancy camera over the battery, then the pick will be the Camon 12. And users that fancy battery over camera will go with the Pouvoir 3 Plus.

But then, let’s not forget the Camon 12 also has a better RAM and ROM and decent battery life as well. And you might have a hard time charging the 6,000 mAh of the Pouvoir 3 Plus cause it doesn’t support fast charging. So the Camon 12 offers the best value for money.

Personally, I will pick the Camon 12 over the Pouvoir 3 Plus.

So guys, if you are to pick one, which one will it be and why?
