Tecno Camon 15 and 15 Pro debuts in India with 48MP AI Quad Rear Camera

Tecno Mobile has released the first Camon smartphone for 2020. The Tecno Camon 15 comes with a senior sibling called the Camon 15 Pro. If you’re an avid follower of the Camon series, then you know the series is camera-centric.

The Camon smartphone comes with a 6.55-inch Dot-in display also known as a punch-hole display. The display features an immersive HD+ resolution. The memory option we have here is a 4GB RAM with 64GB storage only. Of course, the storage is expandable up to 256GB via microSD slot. The Camon 15 runs on the latest Android 10 operating system with HiOS custom skin. It packs a battery capacity of 5,000 mAh.

The camera is the undisputed highlight of this device. The Quad rear camera module is home to a 48MP main lens, a 5MP ultrawide lens with 115° Field of View, a QVGA depth-sensing lens and a Super Night Shot lens that is supported by DSP AI Chip for more lightning during night photo shot. The camera is equipped with AI HDR backlight portraits, AI body shaping to shape your body to perfection and f/1.79 aperture. There is a new feature called “Social Turbo” that will enable you to record your WhatsApp calls and other social features.

The device is available in Dark Jade, Shoal Gold and Fascinating Purple body colours. Its starting price is INR9,999 which is around $140.

This device becomes the first Tecno smartphone with a pop-up selfie camera. The mechanism isn’t something new in the smartphone world. The likes of Oppo, Vivo amongst others have released smartphones with such a feature. The pop-up selfie camera packs a 32MP AI lens. The quad rear camera is the same as on the Tecno Camon 15. Due to the pop-up mechanism, they are arranged differently.

The display of the Camon 15 Pro is 6.53-inch in size and features a 1080 x 2340 pixels resolution and 480nits brightness. Since there is no notch or punch-hole/dot-in, the device is able to get a 91.2% screen-to-body ratio.

Powering the device is an Octa-core Helio P35 processor slapped with a 6GB RAM and 128GB ROM. The battery capacity is reduced here, as it packs just a 4,000 mAh.

The Camon phone is available in two body colour options; Opal White and Ice Jadeite. You can purchase it for INR14,999/$209.
