The TECNO CAMON X and X Pro were recently unveiled at a global launch that took place in Lagos Nigeria on the 5th of April, 2018.
Both devices are the continuation of the Camon lines and direct upgrades to the Camon CX and CX Air. TECNO Mobile released a Camon device codenamed Camon CM in January this year as its first full view smartphone with 18:9 aspect ratio.
A lot of Tech savvy Nigerians were curious if the Camon CM was supposed to be an upgrade to the Camon CX because technically, the Camon CM is still behind the Camon CX except the full view feature that was introduced.

But from the look of things, it shows that the Camon CM was introduced to usher in what to expect from the brand this year.
Therefore it wasn’t surprising to see the Camon X and X Pro with the trending 18:9 display. This display type is now found on most smartphones including flagships from Samsung and Apple.
The Camon X Pro is the superior of the two devices and is the one I will be Unboxing.
Let’s get started.
Camon X Pro unboxing
Housing the device is a rectangular box with a beautiful schematic design of the phone together with the device name.
Flipping the box to the right side reveals the data offers from two major networks providers in Nigeria, MTN and 9mobile. There is a promise of 100% data bonus from MTN on the device, while 9mobile is promising 1.5GB free data on activation and 100% data bonus on all data purchase in the first 6months.
The first thing you will see when you remove the box is the phone and on top of it is a sticker with the key specs of the phone.

Taking the phone aside, you are greeted with a smaller box that houses the back cover, user manuals, Boom Play, warranty card and the SIM Ejector tool.
Like most TECNO smartphones, you have nothing to worry about when it comes to the accessories. It is a fully accessorized package here with all the usual suspects.
- One Camon X Pro device
- A user manual
- Warranty Card
- SIM Ejector Tool
- 3-pin wall adapter charger
- One USB 2.0 Cable
- Boom play Music card
- One phone case
- A pair earphone
The Beautiful pair of earphones
Back to the Earphone, this is quite different from what we are used to especially on the Camon series. This particular one is quite beautiful and from the little time I have with the earphone, plus comparing it with that of the Phantom 8, I can boldly say this is the best headphone on any TECNO devices. It is loud and audio quality is great as well.
The Camon X Pro comes with a 3750mAh battery and the charger that shipped with it supports fast charging.
TECNO has done away with the regular pouch on their Camon devices and this looks much like those ones that are readily available in the market.

Camon X Pro Unboxing-DESIGN
Design wise, the Camon X Pro entire body is made of plastic with a stripe of gold at the edges, bottom and at the top to form an antenna band. Just like the Camon CM, the Camon X Pro is solidly built and is very light as well.
One major shift in design here is the top of the device, the 3.5mm audio jack has left its usual place and has been moved to the bottom of the phone. Personally, this is the best position to put the headphone jack. You can now place your phone in your pocket with convenience while listening to music.
The volume controller buttons, power ON/OFF button and the SIM/SDcard slots are found on the right-hand side, leaving the left-hand side empty. This makes sense in terms of usability and comfortability. The device accepts two Nano SIM cards and a slot for MicroSD card.
Now you have the audio jack, noise cancellation, USB 2.0 port and the mono speaker all at the bottom of the phone.
The 16-megapixel rear camera is placed alongside the quad-flash. Looking at it from afar, one might think, it has a dual camera as it was rumoured. The device only comes with a singular 16MP camera at the back.
At the front, you have a 24-megapixel selfie shooter, recall we posted a selfie comparison of the Camon X VS iPhone X on the blog and according to TECNO, the selfie picture bested that of the iPhone. Now you know why the Camon X Pro comes with a huge 24-megapixel at the front. We will get to test this out in our full review
Camon X Pro Unboxing- Display
Coming to the display on the Camon X Pro, you have the 18:9 aspect ratio with FHD+. This means that the resolution on the phone has been upgraded from what we have on the Camon CX to 2160*1080.
The device comes with onscreen buttons but you still have little bezels at the top and bottom of the phone.
TECNO Camon X Pro Unboxing: First Impression
My impression of this device has been positive so far. I like how light and compact design is and despite the fact that device is made of plastic, it is actually solidly built.
If you have used the iris scanner on the Phantom 6 and 6 Plus, you agree with me that they are not accurate and I ended up not using it. The good news is that the Face ID on the device is quite fast and accurate. Unlike the Samsung Galaxy flagships, you won’t be able to fool the device with your picture, it is quite secure.
With 4GB of RAM, 64GB ROM, an octa-core MediaTek Helio P23 pro and a generous 3750mAh battery, the Camon X Pro should deliver stellar performance. I shall test this out during the full review.
Lemme Know what you think about the Camon X Pro and what you will like us to focus on, in the final review
