Tecno PhonePad 3 Review: An Affordable Premium Tablet

Like I did promise to publish the full review of the TECNO PhonePad 3 during my Unboxing of the Tablet after putting it to maximum use, here is the fulfillment of that promise-the Tecno PhonePad 3 Review.

TECNO PHONEPAD 3 REVIEW

Display and design

Tecno PhonePad 3 is a 7-inch Tablet with an HD IPS display. This translates into 1280 *720 pixels resolution, Sunlight readability is incredibly great on the tablet despite having 1280 *720 pixels resolution. This is attributed to the high brightness level and color gamut. The screen size is 7.0-inch like I said earlier but the onscreen button makes it smaller than the actual size. However, it is still a great display for checking emails, reading, and watching movies.

In terms of design, old things are passed away, Tecno devices are getting premium and PhonePad is no exception, It is a well-crafted and premium-looking tablet that will get stares anytime is on display. It is polished with full metal at the back which is really beautiful. One unique aspect of design here is the location of the Fingerprint scanner at the right-hand side instead of the usual back or home screen placement. It might take a while to get used to it but it works just fine.

Software and hardware experience

Tecno PhonePad 3 is the first Tecno tablet to come with HiOS. The tablet runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow (one would have expected it to ship with Android Nougat since most of the recent devices from the company have Google Android 7.0 but Android 6.0 Marshmallow is still an excellent OS). The HiOS on the tablet is similar to what you find on Tecno Phantom 6 and Phantom 6 Plus which is great, smooth, and seamless.

The business class is the primary target of the Phonepad 3, reasons there are business-related apps packed on the biz assistant folder( WPS Office, Camcard, CamScanner, Multi-Account, Notebook, Email, Calendar).

Multitasking on the tablet is great, I have had no issues of apps crashing during use, less I forget it comes with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage which is expandable to 64GB via a MicroSD card. You can check out the full specifications of the device here.

Camera- Tecno PhonePad 3 Review

Phonepad 3 is not a Camera-centric device like the TECNO CAMON CX , so I wasn’t expecting a stellar performance from the camera. At the back is a 13MP camera with dual-LED flash while at the front is a 5MP Front-facing camera. Photography has not been great on tablets in the past but the cameras on the Phonepad 3 won’t disappoint you whether you taking pictures during the day or night. Pictures they say are worth more than a thousand words, so below are some pictures I took with the tablet.

NETWORK CONNECTIVITY, CALL CLARITY

Tecno PhonePad 3 comes with a dual SIM Slot-meaning you can use two SIM cards at the same time on the tablet, Micro SIM + Micro-SIM. It is a 4 G-enabled device that supports 4G bands 1, 3, 7, 8, and 20. It has good call clarity and is loud. I have no issues with dropped calls while using the tablet and its signal reception is good as well. However since it doesn’t support 4G band 28, Glo 4G might not work on the tablet but all other 4G internet providers in Nigeria work fine during my test.

BATTERY LIFE

It has a non-removable 4100mAH battery capacity that lasted about 10 hrs on constant usage. If you are a heavy user you might have to charge the device after every 6 hours which is still ok. There is a power-saving mode which when is activated can prolong the battery life and is handy when you are running low on power.

Pros- Tecno PhonePad 3 Review

  • Good build Quality
  • 4G capability with fast internet
  • Sharp display
  • Decent camera
  • Light and portable
  • Fingerprint scanner

Cons- Tecno PhonePad 3 Review

  • Average battery life
  • Does not support Glo 4G LTE

There you have it, the Tecno PhonePad 3 Review, the tablet is available in the market at price of N70, 000-N75,000 in Nigeria depending on your location.
