TECNO Pop 2 Plus is a Plus version of the standard Pop 2 which comes with much bigger battery capacity, hence the Plus. There are also some other new things that differentiate this device from the non Plus version.

TECNO Pop 2 Plus Design And Display

Similar to the Pop 2, the TECNO Pop 2 Plus has a 6.0-inch display which is an IPS LCD panel. Resolution of this panel stands at 480 x 960 pixels with a 179 pixel per inch density. The display also uses the older 18:9 aspect ratios which leaves enough bezel at the top for the front-facing camera alongside an LED flash and other sensors. As for the chin down at the bottom, there is nothing on there.

Turning to the back of the device reveals the rear-facing camera, dual-LED flash and a fingerprint sensor for biometric Unlock. TECNO Pop 2 Plus weighs a total of 205grams and measures 9.6mm in thickness thanks to the massive battery on the inside. As for colours, it comes in Midnight Black, Champagne Gold and Nebula Black. The Nebula Black option has a textured back while the other two have a glossy back.

Camera Specs

Tecno Pop 2 Plus doesn’t have much going on in the camera section. It has just two cameras in total, one on each side. The front-facing camera for selfies is a single 8MP sensor with an f/2.2 aperture accompanied by a LED flash. At the back is a 5MP shooter with a dual-LED flash and HDR. Both the rear camera and front-facing camera are capable of shooting 1080p videos at 30fps.

Hardware and Software

Tecno Pop 2 Plus has a Mediatek MT6580P on the inside running things. It is a Quad-Core processor clocked at 1.3GHz paired with a Mali-400MP2 GPU for games and hooked up to 1GB of RAM. It also has 16GB of internal at storage expandable to 64GB via a microSD card. This device is running TECNO’s own HiOS which is based on the Go Edition of Android 8.1 Oreo.

Battery and Connectivity

Earning this device the “Plus” in its name is the massive 5,000mAh battery which TECNO says will “offer you a consistent and stable performance”. Unfortunately, there is no fast charging here to getting the battery up when depleted will be quite challenging.

There is also no 4G LTE connectivity or NFC. However, there is WiFi, WiFi hotspot, Bluetooth, GPS, FM radio, a 3.5mm jack and a microUSB port for charging and file transfer.
