TECNO Pop 2 vs TECNO Pop 2 Power: Specs and Price

TECNO Pop 2 vs TECNO Pop 2 Power: Tecno Pop 2 and Pop 2 Power are two entry-level devices from Tecno under the POP line. Both devices are running the Go Edition of the Android operating system and also sport some similar specifications. However, the most notable difference is perhaps the battery which almost doubled from 2,400mAh on the Tecno Pop 2 to 4,000mAh on the Tecno Pop 2 Power. This is perhaps where the Power in the name comes from. Anyway, let’s see what else is different between these two devices.

Design & Display

Merely looking at both these devices, you’ll hardly see any major difference. Well, except for the fingerprint on the Tecno POP 2 Power which is missing on the Tecno POP 2. Asides from that, both devices sport the same 5.5-inch IPS LCD 480p display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and a single front-facing camera with an LED flash located at the top bezel.

There is also a single rear camera with an LED flash on both devices. The Colour options available are also the same for both devices. These colours include Champagne Gold, Midnight Black and City Blue.

Hardware & Software

The Tecno POP 2 and POP 2 Power have pretty much the same hardware and software. Mediatek’s MT6580 runs the show on both devices with four cores and a clock speed of 1.3GHz which is paired with a Mali-400MP2 for Graphics. Both devices have 1GB of RAM which should be more than enough to run HiOS based on Android 8.1 Oreo Go Edition on both devices. This will obviously make the two devices not only look pretty Identical but also perform similarly. Also, both devices also have 16GB of Internal storage which can be expanded with a MicroSD card if you need more storage space.

Camera, Battery & Connectivity

The cameras on both devices aren’t that great but pretty okay for a device at this price point. Also, both devices are rocking the same front-facing and rear cameras so there isn’t gonna be any difference in terms of picture or video quality. The front-facing camera on both devices is an 8MP camera with an LED flash for those low-light selfie shots.

Both devices are also self-centric as the 8MP front-facing camera is more than the 5MP rear camera which has an f/2.2 aperture and also has an LED flash. Both the front-facing and rear cameras have AI beautification to make your photos look better.

The battery department is perhaps one of the major differences between the Tecno POP 2 and Tecno POP 2 Power from which the Power was derived. Tecno POP 2 has just 2,400mAh of battery capacity while Tecno POP 2 Power has 4,000mAh of battery capacity. Obviously, there is no fast charging on both devices. There is also no 4G LTE on both devices. However, there is WiFi, WiFi direct, WiFi hotspot, Bluetooth, GPS and a micro-USB port with support for USB On The Go on both devices.

Price

Tecno POP 2 costs about N20,000 to N25,000 while Tecno POP 2 Power which has a bigger Battery and a fingerprint sensor costs about N25,000 to N30,000. Both devices are also available for sale on both online and offline stores.
