Less than a year after the release of the TECNO Spark 4, the company has unveiled its successor. The new Spark 5 retains the Dot-in display of its predecessor as well as an 8MP selfie camera. The battery capacity also got bigger.

TECNO Spark 5

TECNO Spark 5 is the upgraded version of last year’s Spark 4. The device comes with a 6.6-inch display, 720 x 1600 pixels resolution, runs on Google Android 10 and is powered by the Mediatek Helio A22 SoC which is clocked at 2.0GHz with PowerVR GE8320 GPU.

Design and Display

The Spark smartphone comes in elaborate textural curves and fantastic gradient colour choices. The overall design is eye-catching and easily draws one’s attention. It is a spotlight device which is totally awesome. The body colour options are Misty Grey, Vacation Blue, Ice Jadeite and Spark Orange.

Enjoy an immersive, brighter and wider visual experience with the 6.6-inch Dot-in display. It features a 720 x 1600 pixels resolution, 480nits brightness, 3D body radian and 90.2% screen-to-body ratio.

Hardware and Software

Under the hood is the Octa-core Mediatek Helio A22 SoC which is clocked at 2.0GHz and paired with PowerVR GE8320 GPU. The chipset is entwined with a 2GB RAM for smooth performance and a 32GB ROM for storing your favourite photos, videos and important files.

The TECNO Spark 5 comes with improved OS performance and user experience thanks to the HiOS 6.1 skin which is based on Android 10 operating system. The dark theme helps to save energy which effectively extends battery life and also reduce the screen’s irritation to the eyes.

Camera and Battery

TECNO Mobile promises clear and bright photography with the Spark 5 as it features a brand-new algorithm AI Camera 3.0 system. The rear module consists of a 13MP main camera with f/1.8 aperture which enables a more natural and high clear photo, a 2MP macro camera for a close-up shot, a 2MP depth camera with AI bokeh effect and a QVGA for low-light. Inside the camera module is a quad-LED flash, which gives you brighter, clearer and beautiful shots in a dark environment.

Other notable features include AI Scene Detection (capable of detecting up to 10 different scenes at the same time), AI HDR, and AI optimization. Upfront, the Spark 5 is loaded with an 8MP AI selfie camera and dual-LED flash. The camera features a fully developed facial algorithm, and portrait HDR.

Price and Availability

The official sale date of the TECNO Spark 5 is yet to be announced. In Ghana, the smartphone is available for pre-order at GHS 720 which translate to about $125.

That means in Nigeria, the Spark 5 is expected to retail for around N42,000 when it finally launches.
