Twitter is making live streaming an integral part of its app. This is coming more than a year after it acquired Periscope. The app was updated today Wednesday, 14th, December 2016 with the intention to start live broadcast directly from the app without opening Periscope.
Meanwhile, Periscope must be installed on your device for this to work. Below is the screenshot from my twitter app.
When you click on the camera roll from the Twitter app you will now see Live alongside photo and video whenever you want to make a new tweet. Selecting live will begin a new Periscope stream just as it does in the app. And streams started on Twitter will be visible within the Periscope app as usual.
Many people have been using periscope as standalone app but Twitter says having live streaming integrated into its app will make more accessible to lots of people. According to Sara Haider, senior manager of software engineering at Twitter, she says………..
“What this integration allows is for you to leverage the audience you have on Twitter. For a lot of folks, who haven’t taken the time to build their audience graph on Periscope, but have spent years investing in their audience graph on Twitter, this allows them to leverage all of their followers on Twitter without having to create a new graph,”

Starting today, you can create and Tweet live video from the Twitter app, powered by Periscope. To go live, compose a Tweet, then tap “LIVE” which brings you to pre-broadcast screen where you can frame your shot. When you’re ready, press “Go Live” to start broadcasting.
Once you’re live, anyone on Twitter and Periscope can join your live video and participate in your experience. When you’re watching a live video, comment and send hearts by tapping the screen. Hearts show your support for the broadcaster.
