Snapchat added support for group messaging

Snap Inc has updated its app to the latest version 9.45.0.0. The latest update brings in the long awaited group messaging feature to its photo messaging. Before now, it was limited to one-one conversions, but the new update will make it possible for Snapchat group messaging to accommodate up to 16 people in the chats.

The previous update only allows group chat to be opened and played once before they disappear and will only be available in the group for 24hrs after they have been sent. With the new update, you can tap another’s member name to jump into individual conversations with them.

Snapchat group messaging features

According to Snapchat there are new creative tools called Scissor and Paintbrush, Scissors lets you cut out part of a snap on the preview screen and make a sticker with it. This feature will be available to the iOS users and later rolled out to Android platform.

Groups can be created while sending a Snap, or when you’re making a new Chat. When your friends are present in a Group Chat, we show their name at the bottom of the Chat. Simply tap their name to start a 1:1 Chat, and then easily return to the Group in one swipe! We call this Quick Chat, and it’s the fastest way to keep the conversation going with one friend without spamming the entire Group.

Chats sent to a Group are deleted by default after 24 hours. Snaps sent to a Group can be opened and replayed just once by each recipient. If a Snap isn’t opened, it’s deleted after 24 hours, just like Chats.
